Title: K4 Pacific
Post by: ketchamb@bellsouth.net on November 09, 2008, 03:02:30 PM
Hi,
A friend purchased an HO Pacific K4 with Sound on Board. I programmed his engine to a 4 digit number, changed some sound volumns and selected another bell. All worked fine on DCC. He now says the engine won't run under analog control. My question is, should the engine run using either analog or DCC control ?
Thanks for any help.

I suspect that when you set CV29 to enable 4 digit addressing, you accidentally turned off analogue operation.  Try adding 4 to the value in CV29.  By this, I mean read what is presently in CV29, add 4 to it, then write the result into CV29.

Some DCC systems do not allow you to read back the values in CVs.  If that is the case with your system, try putting 36 into CV29.  That would be 32 to enable 4 digit addressing and 4 to enable analogue operation.

Please let us know know whether or not this works.

A fellow railroader has pointed out to me that putting a value of 38 into CV 29 would be a better choice.  This would give 28/128 speed steps as well as 4 digit addressing and analogue operation.
