30 Inch 2-4-2s and 2-8-2s.
They are 3d models made for Trainz Railroad simulator, and can be downloaded at www.steammachine.com/bdaneal

I can post some better pictures if people want to see them.  There is an inside and outside frame 2-4-2, and a wood, oil, and coal 2-8-2, in inside and outside frame versions.  I think both would sell well, and the outside frame 2-8-2 could use the 2-8-0 chassis.

Are they prototypical? If so, what are the prototypes?

The 2-8-2s I don't think are, but the inside frame 2-4-2 is based on a Magma Arizona loco,

Speaking of 2-4-2s, how about a model of Brookfield Zoo No. 242, which is at the Hesston Steam Museum in Hesston, IN.

That page has some great ideas for On30.  Bachmann ought to download the files, send them through a Stereolithography machine to make a real 3D model, slap in a motor, and off we go.  Too bad it's not that simple.

Great engines - would love to see them produced by Bachmann.
In fact, I couldnt decide which one looks better - inside or outside frame...

Cheers, Tom ;) ;) ;)

There is I think a good case for Bachmann to make an ON30 tank loco larger than the Porters, apart from a Forney or articulated. I could certainly use such a loco. The 2-4-2t would certainly be a possibility although I would probably prefer one of the Hawaiian 2-6-2t or 0-6-2t side or saddle tanks. These have been discussed here before see  http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/index.php/topic,6254.0.html (http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/index.php/topic,6254.0.html) A six driver loco would provde more variety compared to Bachmann's existing tank locos (the Porters and Forney).

In relation to the 2-8-2 I would prefer a model of an actual locomotive. There were small narrow gauge 2-8-2s by american makers for export.  One , not totally unlike the one here was the 1922 30 inch gauge Baldwin design for Argentenia, see http://www.railwaysofthefarsouth.co.uk/ (http://www.railwaysofthefarsouth.co.uk/) (go to button 7 and then "the 1922 locos" For example of an earlier type of loco see http://narrowmind.railfan.net/282CMdN.JPG
Either could be a candidate for an ON30 model. There were also others.

Just my thoughts

Blimey, I thought a Heisler could be the only thing left to complete my roster. But I have been proved wrong! :D

Both of thoughs engines would look right a home on my layout. I would definitely buy an outside framed 2-4-2. Even though a 2-8-2 wouldnt fit in my headshunt, I would still concider getting one.

Here is another good 2-4-2 idea:

And how about an East Broad Top 2-8-2?

It comes down to the size locomotive you want. Even the smallest EBT Mikado (#12) is considerably larger than the Argentinian Baldwin 2-8-2s (48 inch drivers v/s 31 1/2 inch for a start).  For my layout the EBT 2-8-2s are too big, but I know there are those who like big locomotives.
