I am somewhat NEW to large scale. I did have one set some years ago but now I would like to get back into it again. My question is, I see that the "Annie's" have metal side rods and trim and the latest drive mechisms. Are these upgrades available for engines that dont have them?

Contact the service department for metal valve gear parts. You may have to do some minor modifications depending upon which loco you are converting.

Given the internal modifications involved, you might be better off replacing the loco with an "Annie"--swapping the boiler and cab if the ones on the older loco are special. Some of the mail order places have really good prices--well below MSRP. gj
