Title: Westinghouse box cab electric
Post by: scale rail on July 27, 2009, 06:10:02 PM
Just a thought. No one has ever mass produced a Westinghouse box cab electric. I made this one using an old brass electric body, K-line power trucks and electronic and a Lionel pantograph. If you made a plastic body and used your Alco trucks it seems like the electric could be made for a reasonable price. These electrics ran all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico from the 1920s to the present.

I assume we are talking HO here. Model Die Casting produced a box cab locomotive, similar to one used on the CNJ - I had one for the longest time.

Lionel made one in O Gauge many moons ago. It was red and ran like a rocket.

while it was seemilngly common, those locomotives were not mass produced, and there were many variations in size and details. no matter which one is made, it will be wrong for the vast majority of these locomotives....the same holds true for the early box cab diesels. most were custom built.
