That's good to know Roger, hindsight being what it is, I got a little worried after I tried it. I put it on the rails then made several passes over each route. My locos were hitting a few dead spots but after putting it on the rails, I ran slowest speeds with my dynamis all around and not one dead spot. Who knew such a thing would work.

They would still look good on the layout at the repair shop

Don't know if anyone else has seen it or tried it but I saw a youtube video where a guy puts a small amount of automatic transmission fluids on his track. He said he does it about every few months and runs his locks over the entire layout and doesn't have to clean the track anymore. I tried it today and was able to run my locks over the entire layout with no dead spots. Seems to work. Anybody tried this. I was impressed

Well don, it was just an evidently poor attempt at humor. I have watched the videos and found that using headphones helps me to understand what those guys are saying. Now, if the weather will warm up, I will go out to the barn and try again to program my trains...thanks yall

Thanks guys, I've seen some of these videos but I'm a Texan and have a hard time understanding these guys sometimes. I did see a series made here in the US but can't find it on youtube now

HO / Dynamis loco programming

Ok, I am having heck understanding the instructions on my dynamis, I have 3 loco sand need to give them an address to run each. Is there a decent video tutorial by bachmann on how to do this? I had all 3 programmed before but now have installed sound to them and can't seem to figure it out again, getting old sucks, I need a teenager around here

I'm new to dcc myself and bought the dynamis system. It works great on my layout which is 12ft x 10ft. Being new to it, the programming is a little difficult for this old man but no regrets at all

Any ideas on why an engine would short at a turnout in one direction but not the other?

I think I will just try new batteries first, it sounds like the system should be fine for my layout so I will hang on to it for a little while

Thanks deez, I used the batteries that came with the system and it probably sat on the shelf for a pretty good while. I will try new batteries tomorrow. I've been out of the hobby for the past 30 years and dcc is all new to me. I love the sound and think the grand kids will too.

It's brand new track and I've only got 6 feet layed down, the dynamis system uses an infra red signal

Thanks for the information. I'm about to throw the dynamis in the trash though, it loses the signal at about 5 feet away

HO / Dcc and layout size
February 13, 2014, 04:49:46 AM
I am new to dcc and wondering how large of an ho layout the dynamis system will operate. Does it depend on the size of the layout or on the amount of trains you run? I am building a 12ft x12ft layout
