My local shortline is an atual shortline.  I am surprised I have yet to find someone in the area modeling it as I doubt that I am the first.  I have read a few reviews now of the Castrol Super Clean and it doesnt seem to have many down falls.

Brad,

Is this the product you are talking about? http://www.autobarn.net/super-clean-1gallon.html  What is the process you used to clean the shell with this if I can ask.

On the dummy coupler, are they more durable as well.  I would guess that they are a single molded piece instead of multiple moving parts.  Espically for my passenger train I can see this bing an option.  And a little cheaper cost wise also?

Gene,

I read this review on the engine and they are stating that all the wheels pick up the electricity.  http://www.hubhobbyshop.com/review135.htm
But I am not sure if that is answering your question.

HO / Stripping & painting shell of GP40

I recently had gotten a Bachmann GP40 and I woul like to repaint it as the local shortline.  What are the suggestions for doing so?  I would imagine I do not want to just paint over the engine with the paint and decals that are currently on it.  Thanks!

The registration email may have gotten caugt in a spam filter?  Though that is what Atlas had said to me and I know it wasnt the fact.  But it is a possibility.

Mike,

I have not had an issue with an engine that was chipped with any decoder.  Programming and operation has functioned well.  As my Digital Commander has now been handed down to my son, he also has not had an issue with an engine with a preexisting chip or one that we had installed ourselves.

Just reading through the post as you travel down the path is very informative and enjoyable.  Thanks for sharing and good luck.  Any chance of getting to see a couple pics of the layout.  I would be most interested.  Thanks!

What is the length of your curve to be?  After looking at the bridge I think it may be a bit more than I need in that area.

Thanks Gene,

I will keep it in mind.  I am just beginning the research process for this bridge and have many other projects that are in line ahead of this.  But you have given me a place to begin.
