The only other sound, by default, seems to be on F12. It may also depend on your model and make of decoder. Mine is a Tsunami but I do not know which model # is in my 2-6-6-2.

I just installed a Bachmann decoder in my DCC ready Decapod. (The Decapod is DOA but that is another thread.) I had some dual in-line headers (DIL) for 16 pin IC's and cut them with cutters to 2 single in-line 4 pin headers. Spacing is correct and they worked fine but the coal lid on the tender would not go on properly. The plug has to be very low profile with the wires coming out of the side for the lid to go on so I trashed the idea and soldered the wires directly to the socket.

Just got one of these and DOA. Removed the tender and my Dynamis still immediately says "SHORT" with just the loco on the track.
Resistance across the wheels = 3.3 ohms - I can see why I'm out of current! My Diesel R = 144K ohms. So far I am not convinced that this loco was ever tested.
Anybody had the same problem with a new loco and, I suppose that I ship it back to Bachmann?

HO / Re: Bachmann product on line manuals

Thanks for the help and I tried those links but the info is more like a sales broshure. Soundtrax has some good info but I don't understand why it's so difficult to get specifications for Bachmann products.
Dynamis - How do you program turnouts to the turnout icon and not on loco #9?
My DCC steam obviously has a decoder so what are the values from the factory?
Buying parts is near impossible because the model number is not written on the product and there are few pdf's of components and, of course, Bachmann don't publish anything useful. If it wasn't for some people on this site, people would have given up on Bachmann a long time ago.
This site needs ALL info on its products. To put it in perspective, Bachmann charges you money for a sales brochure so that you can then buy their products. I can't think of another company with such audacity. >:(

I have successfully programmed CV's with my Dynamis on my Bachmann Tsunami steam but I cannot change my Bachmann 2-6-0 DCC (no sound). CV 2, 3 and 4 from 1 to 255 have zero effect.
Any clue would be appreciated - thanks.

I only started trains again a few months ago by purchasing a Spectrum DC NY set. Within a month a bought EZ Command, within 3 months I bought Dynamis. I have 3 45 foot loops with 6 DCC turnouts, many lit cars and Tsunami sound. I ran out of power but the booster price is way out of line so I calculated my load and determined that the Dynamis 2.3 amps would fix my power problem and allow me to program CV's. The infra red wireless works in my application and I'm very happy with Dynamis. The base Dynamis cannot read CV's and the Pro box is, again, way out of line in price. If you don't mind not reading CV's then Dynamis is good. If you want to read the CV then you will need the Pro box as well and for that money you can get a really impressive cab from another manufacturer.
Hope  this helps.

Bachmann has always been on the slow side for documentation. I believe the Bach-Man only answers questions and has no control over what Bachmann does or does not post online. Here is a link to a UK Dynamis site.

Rich
This is a Bachmann site and I'm sure that they monitor it. The information from Bachmann is the worst of anybody that I have ever dealt with. For those who run RC cars take a look at Traxxas. The site has a forum, links, PDF's of every product, exploded views etc.
My whole railroad is Bachmann - Dynamis is not even listed as a product, my locos have DCC decoders but what are the preset values? What kind of decoder? My Tsunami has no info - where is the link?
I know that if I search I can find it but if Mr Bachmann is listening (or anybody else around the world that has clout for Bachmann) they should get someone to administer the site who actually has the fore-thought and capability of doing so. It would be to everybodies advantage.

General Discussion / Re: 2009 Catalog !
December 24, 2008, 09:52:54 AM
Does it not seem reasonable for Bachmann to use an online catalog so that they can sell more product? Selling and shipping catalogs in this day and age seems antiquated, expensive, not green and less efficient.
The web is where most people find their products and it is obvious that the Bachmann web site was designed by a failing student. I know of many Bachmann products that are not even mentioned on their site.

How do you get the shells off?

Thanks,
Greg
Fingernail under the roof at one end and maybe a small screwdriver on the clear plastic tabs underneath.

So where do you find the schematic and layout for the loco? Isn't it about time that Bachmann added Service to their list?

Mr Bachmann, Why don't you put the manuals, parts lists and information on your site?
Another site issue - where do you find Dynamis? Don't you think that it would be under products?

I installed 3 led's in each car. Much more even light but the color looks like florescent fixtures instead of the old incandesant. Amber LED's may look "older". The first thing I did was to remove the electrical tape over the stock bulb, it is there to send the light through the diffusing light pipe but it does not put out enough even light. These cars need at least 3 bulbs and No heat is not a problem.

I do happen to agree that the Booster price is way out of line. A limited bandwidth power amplifier with currect sniffing and protection should never cost more than $75 and that is considering the limited marketplace. I too "wanted" more power, it is cheaper to buy a whole new cab than buy the booster. Agreed you may not get 5 A but anyone that needs 5A must have a lot of track and trains.

HO / Re: Kaydee Couplers
December 21, 2008, 09:10:11 AM
Thank you all for your responses. Maybe I did buy the wrong ones but my research showed #5. Trying to find the correct Kaydee is a real trick - what happened to the standardization? Does NMRA specify or should they produce a recommended device spec?
I have seen clubs that specify Kaydee - that should limit its membership.
I am assembling them correctly but they are inadequate.
It appears to me that if you buy the car, double its cost by buying couplers, spend more time fitting the couplers than running the car, modifying the car by cutting this and filing that, that you may end up with a better car.
Mr. Bachmann, if you buy a Spectrum car, should it really be necessary to upgrade it out of the box?

HO / Kaydee Couplers
December 20, 2008, 07:48:03 PM
I bought a bulk pack of Kaydee # 5 and attempted to instal them on my Bachmann passenger cars. These cars have lights and the coupler housing is articulated so that it turns with the wheels around the curves. It seems that everyone loves the Kaydees but I have not got any to work. I don't know why you would need instructions but it seems that there is only one way to instal them: Remove old - hold coupler on place over the screw hole - lay the copper spring plate over the coupler - Place the plastic cover over all of the parts and screw in the screw. Now the coupler does not spring, feels tight and is about 5% as good as the original Bachmann couplers. What am I missing here? Not to mention the fact that the frustration of installing these things is enormous or is it my fingers are slightly bigger than a new-borns. I would contact Kaydee but I know that this board must have some feedback on how bad these things are.
