HO / Re: Is the circuit board necessary?

As long as you know which is which wire coming from the loco and tender, you can connect directly to the decoder.

You could just swap the electronics board in the tenders as I did, very simple.

HO / Re: Amtrak Diesel Engines

I am trying to decide which Amtrak engine to get between a Bachmann Spectrum, an Athearn P-40, or a Kato F40PH.  Needs to be DCC equipped or ready.  I bought a set of Con-Cor Amtrak cars for cheap and really want a strong and smooth engine to pull them.

               Gidday
I would go with the Kato

I would ask the guy at the club to show you how he does it so you can learn to do it. Then you can do the rest of your own decoder installs.

A lot of the Roco steam locos actually have their motor in the tender, drive through the tender wheels, have a drive shaft going through the firebox on the loco and drive on the loco wheels as well. They usually have a couple of wheels on the tender that are "rubber" shod. These locos drive so smooooooth and haul loads that are unbelievable. I know that they are dearer to buy than "American" steam but I would pay the price for such quality.

Thanks for the information fellas. I will look into it more closely. I have been told to put a value of 126 into CV10. I tried this and it seems to work at the moment. I will let you know what evenuates.

HO / BEMF on Spectrum sound class J
June 09, 2010, 09:17:56 PM
Gidday all
How does one go about setting the BEMF feature on the Class J loco that has the Tsunami sound decoder onboard? I have read the instructions that are on the CD that comes with the loco but I cannot get the feature to work. All I wish to do is set the BEMF on full all the time. What CV and value should I use? Thank you in anticipation

Cookie,
Did you take into consideration Rich wrote,
QuoteI then took everything off track, and put on an engine that hadn't previously been on the track, and it took off full tilt, like the diesels.
in making your suggestion for him to try to reset the decoders?

Gidday
No I didn't, so I guess I will just take off full tilt like the diesels, goodbye

Have you tried to reset the decoders back to factory reset? I have been using NCE Radio equipment for 5 years and never had this happen before. That is no good for you but just try a reset and let us know what happens, and best of luck.
