Large / Questions On 2-8-0 Radi
March 27, 2010, 06:31:47 PM
I'm considering on purchasing a Bachmann 2-8-0 and have read that the minimum sugested radius is 8ft. But will the 2-8-0 perform well on smaller radi? I know that there is a limit to that but I'd still like to know, can anyone help?

On30 / So, What's Next?

Dear Mr. Bach-man,

I've been very enthusiastic with the On30 locomotives and rolling stock you have produced thus far. I am particularly looking forward to getting one of the new Drover's Cabooses. (I think that's what they're called)

But is it at all possible to give us any hints as to what's to come? I'm just a tad bit curious. If you can't I can understand, It would be nice to see a Heisler to complete the two other geared steam locomotives you have!  ;D

Like many of you I wouldn't mind seeing new porters produced in different verieties. I like the idea of side tank porters, and I'd REALLY like to see some porters that are DCC/DCC sound ready or installed.

But I have a fondness for the saddle tankers, so when and if the Bach-Man brings them back I do hope to see them again.

I have to say, I wouldn't mind seeing Bachmann producing a model of this myself! I think it would be interesting and I'm sure all the industria modelers would go for it! ;D

Although Bachmann has made plenty of them, there are a few Main Line motive power locos I'd like to see. I would LOVE to see Bachmann broduce some K-28s, especially one in the Bumble Bee Scheme!  ;D And I admit, I'd like to see some C-16s to.
But there are two 2-8-0s that I seen that i think would make great models. Both of which ran on the White Pass & Yukon.

Iwas always fascinated by the Vouclain Compound cylenders. I'd love to see a model of WP&YR #6. I think she has a nice asthetic look to her with the rounded domes and capped stack.

On30 / Where did all the Porters go?

Hey! What happened to all the On30 Porters? Did Bachmann disscontinue them? Man that would really stink if they did!

I would love to see Bachmann make a 2-6-2. And if they do, I would prefer if they made both inside and outside frames. That way everyone can win!  ;)

But what I would like to see Bachmann make is an alternate version of the 2-6-0. What I'm is that Bachmann has alredy made two versions of their 4-4-0, so why not alternate versions of another loco from their On30 line? So my suggestion would be this:

Nevada County Narrow Gauge Engine #5. I like to model "older" steam loicomotives from around the turn of the century and the 1880s. Also this loco, as a model, can be tastefully Modernized to suit the owner's taste. Bachmann is makinf all sorts of optional parts for their models now, and NCNG #5 even uses one of the Headlight styles currently made for the Bachmann 4-6-0s and 2-6-6-2s! Also I think that the NCNG #5 is just a good looking loco all around! I'd prefer a wood cab over the steel one shown as well as a wood pilot. But these can be examples of what can be optiona on the loco as a model. And I LOVE the stack she has!!!  ;D

On30 / Re: 2-4-0 locomotive

I have yet to get a Forney. I like those kind of locomotives, but personaly I think that the Bachmann models are more suited to be bashed into 2-4-0s. I'd like to see more "Old Time" locomotives with fluted domes and spark arresting stacks.

But that can easily be done by the owner of the loco. I've got two 2-4-0s plance for my Wolf Creek & Flagstone RR. One an inside fram and the other and outside one. After seeing how the Mount Blue cab kit looks, it will greatly simplify cab modifications.
