Large / Re: New Climax locomotives

The description of the new Climax describes it with: "precision-balanced can motor( )."  The old Climax had two motor(s), one for each truck.  Will the new one actually have power transmitted by means of the gearing and use only one "motor?"  Thanks

Interesting and useful info here....thanks.
i have a couple of Connies and it seems as if there will be a point where gears will have to replaced on them.   i have instructions for disassembling the boiler from the chassis...but might someone provide info that will help me remove the drive wheel/gear from the chassis....anything would be appreciated.  i've done a couple of searches (perhaps wrong choice of words???) but i have found nothing useful. i have done very little work on large scale engines...i used to assemble Bower, Model Die Casting, and Mantua HO engine kits long time ago....is this replacement probably something i could do...or would i be better off sending them to Bachmann?
   Thanks for the help!!

Nicely done!....i'd take two....if they'd run around 8 foot diameter without the center driver dropping on the inside curve.  i use LGB track and sometimes the 2-6-0 has some trouble with that radius...especially at the swithches...the only Bachmann engine that i have found this a problem....Very nice work Kevin.

OK....in the realm of fantasy....how about the EBT's #11.   Kind of modern  (1908) steam...unusual wheel arrangement, not tooooo big....and of course all are familiar with her!!   ;D Kind of  nondescript look about her.....yup!!...i can see many finding number 11 just totally enchanting!!  i'd take two!....even though only one was ever made.  F-Scale ....of course.

i will solidly back your nomination Kevin.  A one of a kind piece of equipment that helped the EBT railroad survive into the 50's.   "seen one railbus, you you've seen them all"....and yet certainly would be at home on a system that dreamed of surviving.

Nope, not cause trouble...but just a comment after reading much discussion on the caboose...if someone feels it  applies to them....perhaps there is a reason he/she feels that way.  Perhaps i am whinning....but...

Just purchaswed SUMPTER VALLEY RAILWAY from Images of Rail.  Full of wonderful pictures of some engines that might make great models....if you can.....give it a look.

Received the 2-6-6-2 back today.  Repair time was from 1/5/09 to 3/6/09.  A couple of days ago, i did receive a call from the tech. that worked on the engine and we had a short discussion before he returned it.  i felt that it was helpful in regards to the care and feeding of the "animal."  Haven't had a chance to try it yet, but at least it is in my hands...and out of the box...it looks ok.

Bill,
Thanks for your reply.  i was wondering if this might be a busy time for them...and you certainly hinted at that.   Thank goodness i do have another engine...but this was a bit frustrating in that it was a brand new engine and pieces just started falling off the running gear and ending up in the roadbed!!!....but of course we each think our problems deserve special attention....i think i knew the anwer already: ...."it depends."  ::)
