Nothing other than lining them up and coupling them together. Just make sure their both knuckle-type couplers. They should couple together.

The new couplers are considered 'knuckle' type couplers. This is for obvious reasons. The old couplers are considered Rapido-type couplers. They will not couple together. You should either replace the couplers on the older cars and engines, or throw out the older Bachmann stuff. It's junk.

It's redo.

Koto? You mean Kato (Kah-Toe)?

They are not compatible.

With Life-Like last producing them, it's not going to happen.

I don't even know what you're asking.

Send it back to Bachmann. Sounds like the decoder is shot.

I honestly would be very shocked if Bachmann made a Mikado or Pacific in N scale.

Probably not. You can find a locomotive with a four-wheel trailing truck, like the one from the 2-8-8-4, and adapt it to the 2-10-2.

I doubt Bachmann would do this. Kato has the market on the 2-8-2 (along with Model Power), and Model POwer has the market on the Pacific. Yes, they're heavy versions, but the average modeler doesn't care.

That last line in the qoute was a question I was asking. Don't know how it got there though???

It's my friend's 4-8-4, but I'll be installing the decoder. We'll probably go with a Soundtraxx decoder. Once we have the pickups designed, we'll start on the installation and I'll try to take pictures.

I'm about to do one next weekend. I believe there is enough space near the cab in the locomotive to install a decoder. You just have to isolate the motor.

The Bachmann EZ Mate couplers, I believe, are pretty universal, and they work well if you're not worried about scale size appearances. If you are, then a Z scale Micro Trains coupler would work the best.
