Thanks Bachmann,

Buckso,    I was referring to the photo of the car in the brochure from Bachmann, not the one in your photo.   The flat in your photo is the old 20 foot flat.  The one in the brochure has a black deck of some sort and the skidder is on the black deck.  Maybe the photo in the brochure is wrong, but it is different!!

Yes Kevin it will be interesting,  The couplers are different as are the trucks.  I could not quite figure out the black deck on the car, iIt looks like a cheap add on, but time will tell!

The skidder looks great and I will definitely be getting one.

BTW Kevin, I really liked your article on scale in GR, probably the best ever!!

With all the attention focused on the new Forney and Long caboose, Many have missed the announcement of the new Spectrum 1:20.3 Flat car with Log Skidder and crates.   The log skidder will also be available seperately.

This new item was in the brochure passed out at the NGRS convention in Denver
The link for the brochure is :  http://www.bachmanntrains.com/newsimages/2009%20NMRA%20pdf/358_sales.pdf

You will find the new flat car and log skidder on page 10  right under the new Forneys

This looks like a welcome addition for those into logging, or even as a general flat car load in revenue service!!

Scuttlebutt at the convention was that the Marklin/LGB bankruptcy judge, had removed a buyers restriction that would keep the production in Germany.  If this is true the door is wide open for Kader to buy the line.   A year ago I was told by one of the VP's at Bachmann that they had put in a bid back then, but it failed because of the restriction.   I cannot think of a company big enough to buy Marklin/LGB but Bachmann.

My bet would be LGB by Bachamnn!!

We will just wait to see what happens.

Walthers had a big display at the nationaL convention Banners proclaiming they have all the new LGB items in stock and were shipping to dealers!!

Since I am not interested in LGB I did not check into it further.

Been away for a week and didn't see this.  Based on the info you gave Joe is right, the set is 90095.  You will find this number on one side of the box.  If you see a different number, let us know.  The set was in the catalog from 1993 to 1997.  Unfortunately the set has a locomotive with a less than great drive train in it, and all the cars have plastic wheels.

If you decided to sell it, be sure to test it first, and tell buyers that it runs ok(if it does) and that may bring you more money.  The set is not rare as many were made between 1993&1997.   They seem to sell between $60 and $120 dollars on Ebay depending on condition and the mood of the bidders.   Right now is not the best time to sell, due to the poor economic conditions,  seems like everything is going at lower prices than normal on Ebay.  If you must sell it try to wait till October/November as things seem to bring a better price in the months before christmas!!

Good luck with your train set!

HI,  Maxxx,

Glad you finally got one, it is a good time to buy on Ebay, everything is going for less these days.

Be sure to lube it well and grease the drive gear!  If you do not overload it and keep  it lubed you should get good service out of it!!

Casey,  If you got it last summer your warranty may still be valid.  Give some thought to sending it in and letting Bachmann make the repairs.

Got a chance to get a good look at the new Bachmann Thomas items at the Large Scale convention in DEnver.  They had production samples of Thomas and the two coaches.  The Percy locomotive was not at the convention nor were the freight cars.

I was very impressed with how robust they were!  Looks like these should hold up pretty well in play activity.   They were well done and the graphics were outstanding!!

If the mechanism is as robust as the bodies, this item will be a hit!

Large / Re: Curve radius
June 30, 2009, 11:03:59 AM
The radius is two feet yielding a circle 4 feet in diameter.   All Big Hauler (standard line) locomotives will work, many Spectrum line locomotives will also work, but several will not such as the K-27 and Mallet.

If you are planning to purchase a Spectrum for use on the four foot diameter circle, it is best to check here by asking about the specific loco you are wanting to purchase.

Hope this helps!

Looks good but on the large side!!   It would probabley overpower an Annie unless cut down some.  I'm sure someone has or will do it on an annie

JD got all the numbers for the industrial mogul. They were first introduced in 2002.  They were poor sellers, and dealers were practically giving them away,  because of this Bachmann did not make additional runs.  As soon as the word got out that there would be no more, the screams for more began, and the price went up.

If you are looking for the Banta model works try this web address:

Happy railroading.

Andy,   Yes the unlettered Annie would work in a swap as would the #10 WP&Y if you had to have the number #14.

Unfortunately I am unable to answer your other question, perhaps a WP&Y expert will chime in.

Andy I suspected you might not be living in the US, but there was no info in your profile.  I can see why you would want the sets without the track. The Bach man may be willing to pass on your ideas, Hopefully he will respond!!

Good Luck!

Hi Andy,  I do not represent Bachmann in any way, but my guess would be no.  I say this because you can already buy the individual items without the pack or track.

To me the advantage of the set is the super low cost, as I mentioned in one of the above posts.  The lower cost of the set over the individual items should offset any savings on postage, if you are in the US.

If you don't mind listing on Ebay, You should be able to get $14 to $35 for the track and transformer further increasing your savings.  I will buy two sets and sell the track on Ebay in the three months before christmas so as to get the best price. I always sell my excess G Scale items either on Ebay or at my local train show in the months before christmas.

Happy railroading!!
