HO / Re: 86' high cube car wheels
September 23, 2008, 06:56:54 PM
It depends on the weight capacity it is designed to carry.
Examples

33 = 70 ton
36 = 100 ton
38 = 120 ton

High Cube will be 33" wheels. ;)

No it is not real, I just wanted to see how far it will go.

Has anyone visited that big ATSF cargo yard in Barstow?

Just kidding... ;)

General Discussion / Re: smoke engines
September 15, 2008, 04:15:45 PM
Do our really want a smoker?

I was raised in a home in which my parents stir fried our dinner 95% of the time. The oil from the stir frying got on EVERYTHING in the kitchen and in the dinning room. Just think of what the oil smoke from a steam locomotive can do to your layout.

Now Rapido has a steam generator car that is said does not use oil to make smoke.

All my plastic knuckle couplers are replaced with KD. The plastic couplers are used on my caboose to reduce "pulled drawbar".

Model railroad rolling stock are made in batches.
The Sharknose maybe not in production as well speak, but your dealer may have them.  :)
If not ask your dealer to back order.
That will tell Bachmann to schedule the Sharknose for production.

All of Walthers name train so far are diesel powered. Hopefully they will match it with a P2K steam locomotive....someday!

General Discussion / HistoricRail Catalog error
September 07, 2008, 04:43:40 PM
Just received my catalog last week. As I was reading the material in the most expensive part of my house, I notice an error in one of the model they offer.

It's not one of those wheels off the track, but on page 36 on the SP 40' Express Car the "opening" door is hung upside down!

Chalk one up for non-modelers working at a railfan establishment. ::)

Check their Model Master series paint.

Testor brought Floquil and Pactra into their family a few years back.
Everything is now "Testor".
