Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific question.  I am trying to determine the largest steam that the Rock Island had used.  Thanks to any that can help me out on this!  I have a 2-8-0 (x2), 2-6-0, 0-6-0 but am looking to add a larger steam to the fleet.

This has been great information from all.  Thanks!  I am looking into the curved bridge recommended by Gene and see if this will work for my application.

HO / Re: Steam or diesel?

I have run in to a similar issue.  I model the Rock Island, both diesel and steam.  But I wanted to add a large steam engine to the fleet.  Currently I have a 2-6-0 mogul and a 2-8-0 Consolidation.  I am searching for a 2-10-2 for Rock Island or a model closely resembling it.

General Discussion / Re: Is DCC worth the price/time?

I agree with JIm.  The cost is two fold.  One is investing in one system then scrapping that to move to another.  The other is time ... the amount of time wrapped into building the DC system only to be switched around at a latter time.

I agree with that but we also have much information buried within these forums.  It gets frustrating sometimes to find it all or to find what you are looking for.

HO / Curved Bridge

I have a small river that I need to gap.  I have a Wye that curves over this river for about 10 inches.  Any suggestions on a bridge?  Thanks

General Discussion / DCC Board?
August 10, 2007, 02:26:29 PM
I think one thing I would really like to see is a seperate DCC Board.  It becomes difficult to sort and sift through all the posts.  It is great that so many of use communicate through this media but wouldnt another filing cabinet for our DCC questions and comments be a good idea?

The only reason I can really see for one not to go to DCC is if you have an established DC layout where the cost for conversion would be a factor.  When just beginning I would highly recommend going DCC because I think if you dont now you will want to later.  That is what we had found out quickly and am very happy for the decision.

I am looking forward in seeing your layout progress.  The base of ours started out the same and it was amazing on how quickly it had grown.  Good luck!
