Hi everyone.

I have been looking a some good web sites for replacement parts for my Older (1980's) Diesel and steam.  I am looking for Tyco, Athern, Lifelike and others.  I saw a few web sites a few days ago but did not bookmark them and I deleted my history this morning but I know they exist! why am I doing this, well some engines have sentimental value.

Thanks
Robert

They look the same don't they. I bought mine on eBay from the seller "thefavoritespot"
You could check with him.  But he does take pictures I think of each type of passenger car he has. Hope that helps.

I have the NYC version of these. And the recommended is 22 degrees. My layout is 22 degrees main line and the rest is in 18 degrees.  As I am typing this I am running 4 of them  "reliability" test on them as I just changed from the Bachmann standard couplers to the Kadee #148's.  After 60 minutes they are still running just fine weaving in and out of the curves and switches (DCC switch styles 44130,44131,44137 and 44138).  I could not do this on the standard couplers.

I have had a few problems with the the spectrum passenger cars initially and after a switching the couplers and a few other small adjustments (i.e tightening or loosening screws and such) they run great.
Next I am going to figure out how tho stop the lights inside from flickering when they over the switches.  I know the answer is on here somewhere.

Wow That was great!  I actually Copied and pasted your response to Microsoft Word for future reading as I get to that phase.  Again thanks for the great info.

Thanks everyone on the great advice.  It gave me the confidence to try it.

Woody - I like the Water tower I think that could be a good first option.
Rusty Rails - I do love the smell of Balsa (it's balsa wood?)
And everyone else thanks!

Robert

PS Are any Brands recommended?

Hi again
Well the track planning and laying out is nearly complete and now my attention is turning to everything else which includes buildings. I have in the past (30yrs ago) I have built entirely in palstic.  I see that the "wood" kits have made great improvements. As for my experience level I am rather handy in building things!
So I have a few questions.
1. Are the wood kits difficult to build?
2. Are all wood kits "pre cut"?
3. Can you safely add lighting to them?
4. Can they be used in conjunction with the plastic kits?

Any and all information and advice is greatly appreciated!  I hope one day to be able help out others as much as every one has helped me

Wow I greatly appreciate everyones input. Thanks again! I would love to paint them myself but i just don't have the artistic ability. I like the idea of using the better brands in the high view areas and the lower one in the low vis areas.

Hi
I am starting to look at getting figures as they can get expensive I am starting to but them a little at a time.  Just getting the 2009 Walthers Catalog recently I can see some nice detail on some of the figures. I am just curious what most people prefer?  I plan on using them in my passenger cars, in stores, obviously just about everywhere.  I don't have the expertise to paint them myself so I am looking at the pre painted.
Again thanks for the help.

Hi
I am still working on my track layout in HO with Bachmann E-Z Track.  I am trying to plan on the future as much as possible.  I was going to use a clearance of 3 1/2 but I am concerned that it I ever want to get the Bombardier Commuter Cars or the double high Auto cars it might clear. I have been looking around for a while on line and searched in the message boards and could not find the answer.
Thanks for the help

I am watching some auctions tonight and see a few of them end at prices cheaper than I paid. But still a great price.  Thanks for the help we may only be able to run the engine on the "Main Line" only.
