well it happened to me.  I seldom buy anything on ebay.  I bid on a spectrum 2-8-0 used and my low bid won.  Well I found out why.  I have seen this before.  Runs slow making noise and the motor sounds like it is racing.  I guess I will take it apart and see what I find.
ebay aside,
I think you will find the problem is not the belt, but that the flywheel glue has failed.
put a "TINY" spot of super glue on the end of the motor shaft and replace flywheel, and all should be well again.
the glue is brittle and can fail under sudden load.

they are/were remote control slugs used in trasfer service.
MUed to live locos on train to move around the long cuts of cars
the windscreens are painted over to prevent onboard operation.
prime movers were removed and relpaced with much smaller diesel to power compressor and provide electrical for control system, hence no tank.
many times they were coupled to one end or the other of these units.

they have since been taken out of service, to be rebuilt into green goats or scrapped for parts.
pics taken in Pryor, OK.

JFYI, the ex-turbine tenders,

have just been rebuilt into this

and are now much closer to the N&W style, then the original turbine tenders.

you have to move all of the electronics from the old tender to the new one.

NO, the motor ONLY operates the plow blade, the plow, like the prototype is NOT self-propeled, and is moved by pusher locos.
#385
It's the Athearn old version plow that uses a rubber band to turn the blade connected to a wheel axle, not the walthers version.
yes,  the walthers rotary has a motor to turn the plow blade, but like the prototype, the plow has to be moved by pusher locos.  the motor has no drive connection to the wheels, only the electrical pickups.
the new release athearn plow is now also motor driven.

I think my favorite was the "rails to trails" layout of several years ago.
Gene
and don.t forget the "zero G" train, the 1:1 scale model review, London's Tube layout, or my all-time favorite, the alien engineer in the cab of the loco on the cover photo!!!

I hope you're not refering to the annual April fools item!, because I REALLY hate when somebody spoils things by telling me how a movie ends before I've seen it!!
If that's the case, then just KEEP QUITE!!!

Here are the rules
1. Only the winner of the previous contest may post the next picture. Any picture posted while a contest is still open will be flagged and removed by a higher up.
2. You must wait for conformation that you have won before you post a picture.
3. Any Gauge and Country are Welcome.
4. Have Fun!
I will start us off

I would also recommend that you stick to posting public domain photos or photos that you have the right to use, there were several copyrighted photos that appeared in that other thread, without permission I'm guessing, which could cause problems.
if in doubt, post a link to the photo, instead.
