General Discussion / Re: smoke units
August 21, 2007, 12:57:06 AM
ive heard that befor i dont know if it contributed to the oxidation of some pieces of track
but that may be because of content of glycerine
which is the common ingreidient
mostly glycerine and water in different dilutions
thats what i was told
im not sure if its more water or more glycerine that does it
that leads me to another question
i was told i could make my own smoke liquid like this.
is this so?

General Discussion / DCC connector problem
August 14, 2007, 09:29:47 PM
i was removing my tender from my dcc 2-8-0 loco and i might have broken the connector...
im not sure
there connected by wires with little plastic plugs
does the protruding metal parts come out of the connector or the board?
they are in the connector
my thought is that it's suppose to be in the connector...
but also that makes me nervous is that they are not going in together
(the board and the connector)
it seems to have slots that the metal protrusions go into...
but they dont seem to go in
they are very small parts
my question is
is it my fault that i cant get it in or can some one show me a diagram of the connector and the tender board
usually they fit easily
i just want to know to repeat.
is the metal protrusions on the plug or the board
i had a concern that the metal "things"
got stuck in the plug from sudden pulling
or not
i dont want to send it out for warrenty  if its not broken
thanks

General Discussion / Re: Ho Couplers
August 10, 2007, 12:32:46 PM
this may sound a little barbaric but i use the old hook couplers and i still find a
way to get them on the knuckle. i just sort of push them together
they give me no trouble while running
its just a hassle when hooking and unhooking
u have to walk over and do some sort of manuver with the couplers...
it may sound dumb and i may be lazy to go to the hobby store and find replacements but they will stay together if you try.
if u got 20$ i still suggest buy them...

Well from 1860-1865...
well there was the american 4-4-0 was a basic engine and nearing the end they introduced the consolidation 2-8-0...
look those up online
and bachmann probably has them.
