Dont dig up old posts   :P   :-X

Really, it is only a few months old. At least it isn't as bad as going back to a thread from 2007 and thinking it was relevant to December of 2010! ::) :P

This is basically harmless. I personally think the problems start when something is over 6 months old, but this is merely my opinion. I could be completely wrong with my statements (even if they are opinions) and thomas' #1 fan could be posting in a thread that shouldn't have been brought back to life. :P

I'm now on the fence with both of my arguing statements. Let's go with that if you truly don't need to post in an old thread, then for Heaven's sake, don't do it.  :P

EDIT:

What Sparks is about to say is completely correct.  :P

2). They're recognized by the youth and are pretty popular engines among Thomas fans in general. Hornby hasn't beaten Bachmann to making Donald and Douglas either, so Bachmann has the entire market for the UK (and Australian?) market who buys from Ebay and other websites that ship oversea.
hornby tock over Australia, unfortunately.

It isn't possible that Hornby took over the Australian market in terms of distributing Donald and Douglas models because they haven't even been created yet. If Bachmann were to make the twins sooner than later, which is probably the case for the upcoming year, they would be unbeatable in the marketing and distribution of the Scottish Twins.

I'm only 9, so i don't know what that means!
[move][move][move][move][move][move][move][/move][/move][/move][/move][/move][/move][/move] ::) :P ???

Again with the posting 3 times in a row when you can make it one post... but anyways:

Donald and Douglas haven't been created by any modelling company yet, so if Bachmann creates them first, then they have a chance to be the main sellers of Donald and Douglas.

Well, we haven't been given any characters that appeared from Season 8 onwards, right? maybe Bachmann's focused on characters who appeared from Seasons 1-7 first. i really don't know.

Even so, how would they choose which models to make of those seasons? There were quite a few new engines in season 7.

Hey all, I just opened up a brand new Toby and he's running slow and i'm getting a bit of smoke. I figure this might be the motor overheating. I've read a lot of threads about this problem, and it seems that I should just be able to drop some WD-40 or something of the sort. My question is where exactly do I put it in the motor? Thanks!

Do you mean you have taken the motor out and need to put it back into the model? If so, there are diagrams of each Thomas engine in the Parts & Service section of the website.

Here is Toby's:

Hope this helps!  :)

I second this question. I am really curious as to how Bachmann makes the decision as to what to produce. This might even answer the question as to why Duck hasn't been released yet and how Spencer was released before Edward.

Well wanted to point out about one thing for the james, thomas, and percy moldels. One thing (for all actaully) is that the eyes paint scratches off easly, thus having an odd thomas moldel, why my broken percy has now one painted eye and one made w/ a sharpy. I say the should put a plastic coating over it to prevent that. Another thing was that front couplers are a great idea seeing that even little kids want to pull the trains backwards, the all would need a front coupler. But also they should work on the troublesome trucks. For one they are black int the series, but bushman's are a plastic gray, and then the wheels are too big, and not show accurate, pulse the wheels have some kind of "steps" in the sides. And even Toby's face isn't TV accurate. I just hope they don't go for the CGI image faces instead, that wouldn't be good :(. Aw well lets just wait and see what will happen.

For the eyes of the models: I am really curious as to how you were able to scratch away the eyes of a model with the face on. Were you poking at them with a toothpick or something (for no reason I might add)?

About the troublesome trucks:

A) They aren't black, they are a dark gray in color.
B) The wheels are to scale (at least from my views).
C) There are no steps on the trucks (to my knowledge).

The only thing that could ever consider the reason to fix the troublesome truck models is to darken the gray color.

One last thing to note: Bachmann Toby's face is in fact close to TV accuracy:

vs.

These images are of the property of Thomas the Tank Engine Wikia.

If anything, out of all you said, the couplers could be a good possibilty, but Percy needs a rear coupling hook before anything happens. That is just not acceptable.

Just in time for Christmas

   Yes, But not for sale.

By Christmas, it probably will be. I just realized that it is ALL green. It doesn't even have a black undercarriage... I wonder...

Ah! Silly computer, when will you be able to learn? ;D

I'm also interested to see how everyone is incorporating Bachmann Tidmouth Sheds into their layouts. Any pics?

what about the sodor mail van, bulgy, caroline, trevor, bulstrode, the sodor fire truck, etc.

In all honestly, from my perspective, I think that Duck should be released before Bulgy or Bulstrode or Caroline. He was introduced first. He is one of the classic steam team engines.

Oh, and speaking of paintwork, here's a change I'd like to see made to the entire range: A protective gloss coat over the lining and numbers and whatnot, to keep them from being rubbed off too easily.

At this point I'd be fine with the sale of replacement labels/decals. My decals for James' wheel arches rubbed away after the fight with a black paint can to fix the smoke box coloration problems. I still wish I could find replacements because I think it would be too difficult to repaint the black lines.

PerfectPercy,

I got the crane from my local hobby store (I just happened to see it there, and it is the exact same one the Bachmann used in his layout).

This is it:

Thanks. I appreciate it. Thank the mighty lord that you painted the cabin brown instead of that hideous orange! ::) :P Looks better with the lick of paint.

Thanks bachmann and the rest. If it does come with one then how does it comes with 12 peices? Walthers states that it comes with two though. Not to get you wrong bachmann, it just seems very strange.

Well, 12 pieces... The entire shed has quite a list of pieces itself. One stall has a piece of track, a roof, walls, doors, windows, etc. Don't have a clue how it adds up to 12 but if it does, it does. Where's your source of this information?

As promised, I have updated my photo album with the latest pictures I have. I am going to provide a link to my Picasa photo site, because I have no desire to try and post a bunch of picture links in this message. :) The link will take you to my Sodor Island Progress page. Most images have a description that gives information of what was going on at that stage. You'll see I chose to make the basic layout almost the same as The Bachmann's. I did change the dock side end to a yard area. My reason for deciding this was because the project has been rather expensive just to get to this point (which is why it has progressed slowly), and there are a lot of details in the dock side area on The Bachmann's layout which would significantly increase the costs. So, it will be a small yard area that will be much more cost effective, while still serving a purpose. This is all trial and error on my part. I could have chosen to do a lot of it differently, but I chose not to on purpose. I do have plans to change some of it later on to suit my own desires though.

Stay tuned....  :)

Hey, nice job with the recreation of the Bachmann's layout. You are doing fine with progress. Don't stress yourself. At least you have a loop to run trains on. Mine is half way through with problems having arisen.  ::)

Question, where did you get that rolling gantry crane (or the crane that isn't Cranky), and what is it called (brand/item name, etc.)?

Good luck. It looks great so far. ;) :)

If I were to think of the most common stations..... Hmm...

From most likely to least (from my perspective):
Maithwaite
Maron
Sodor Airport (?) (Might count as a station in some considerations...)
Town Hall Station (If that is even what it's called)
Wellsworth
Lower Tidmouth
Tidmouth
Suddery
Kirkronan
Tidmouth Halt
Crovan's Gate
Cronk
Vicarstown

He. He. Did I miss any? ::) :P

Wait this is a wishlist, so.....

Before we see more scenery like this, we need rolling stock and engines to accompany them first. *(fake) cough* Duck, Diesel, and the Red Branch Line Coaches *(real) cough*(... then sick, then bed ridden...)

There's also Chaz and Sparks' list in general, which incorporate some items of necessity:

I think literally the only the only things on my wishlist that I'd really like to see the most are what me and Sparks suggested for 2011.

Duck
Red branchline coaches
Trevor
Breakdown Train and works unit coach

Though if any other engine would make a perfect addition to go along with Duck...I still say it's Diesel. :)

Cheers ;D

Is it just set up on the floor or are the tracks attached to something? The tracks could be sliding apart as the engines go in certain directions over it. As there is some kind of friction, the tracks want to move with the engine, at least somewhat. Correct me If I'm wrong, but if you either aren't using something comparable to E-Z track and it isn't fixed to your surface, then you may run into problems.

As for the hill, I've had problems building my hills on my layout. If you go over a 3% grade, you will have problems no matter what you do because even by adding weight to engines, you can't add too much. I have just about a 3% grade and James was the only one that needed weight added to him so he could pull 3 coaches (at least I recall). Spencer, Gordon, and Henry by themselves each had a record of 6 coaches. That was the max. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I wonder if it is the climate. :P Another note is if you have curves on your hills, then the tighter they get, the more difficult it is to move up the hill. I have 26" and 24" curves on my one hill with the track laid. I hope I can do the same with the other  :-\.

Good luck
