Any DCC controller can run the new DCC turnouts.

Thanks. I didn't want to hook it up and blow something.

I recently got a Digitrax Zephyr and I need to know if I can use it with the Bachmann 5 amp booster.

I would still like to know abot locos for 18 inch but the problem was that my terminal track hs one bad side!
If your terminal track is bad then I would suggest replacing it or solder the wires directly to the rails.

I've installed many decoders, from easy one step 'drop-ins' to fully involved hardwire jobs, and I can tell you there's nothing to it once you've done it a few times.

And people wonder why I still have my layout wired in blocks. It's quite handy for working in one area while being able to run trains in the other areas.

On the Bachmann GP40 you do not have to remove the couplers. Simply pry up the fuel tank and remove the two screws beneath. The shell will come off easily.

All the turnouts I bought that had the green wire came with the remote, be it the push switch or the capacitive discharge switch.

When I run two locomotives on the same track, I keep a finger poised over the stop button and run very slow.

Recently I slowed the wrong loco and had a magnificent rear ender. I forgot to take a picture, cars jack knifed and some on their sides.
I did something similar and had one heck of a cornfield meet! Needless to say it got my attention instantly.

Most of Ertl's product line is aimed at kids and not at people who might take them seriously.lol

I had that happen several times over the two years I used my EZ-Command. I simply turned off the power to to the controller then turned it back on and everything was normal.

Are these the wired remote turnouts or the new DCC turnouts?

Just remember that for every decoder in the track that's pulling power that's that much less power available for the trains.

Quote from: Rangerover on October 15, 2008, 10:00:43 AMI've heard some modelers have to clean track every time they run trains. I clean mine once every 6 months or so with the polish.
You have to clean yours that often? I cleaned mine with Blue Magic metal polish back in '05 and haven't had to clean it again since, just a quick wipe down with a clean cloth once in a while.
