I run a gas mechanical on a 6 inch radius with small 4 wheel cars.  No problems negotiating the curve and the cars will stay coupled.  However it is too tight a curve for the cars to couple on.

I don't know about the 2-8-0, but I have used it in other Bachmann locomotives without any problems.

I can't get into the web site without a password.   I hope it looks like W. W. & F. #10!

On30 / Re: Beware That New Krylon Spray Paint

I have a can of the new Krylon acrylic in FLAT clear.  It dries with a flatter finish than the matte paint.  I bought it a couple of months ago at Wal-Mart.

Eric,

Absolutely; that is an Hawaiian locomotive.  Bachmann made a large scale locomotive almost identical to it some years ago.  Number 5 is in service today in Connecticut.

The newer Porters built in the last few years have a new chassis without plungers.   I install DCC differently without taking the frame apart.  The decoder is in the cab with a channel milled in the underside of the water tank to handle the wires.

You should have no problems at all.  I built a small layout with Atlas HO code 83 track with every two ties removed.

The original Hawaiian 2-4-2 prototype is alive and in steam at the Connecticut Antique Machine Association museum.  Check out http://www.ctamachinery.com/

That's what I did and it works just fine.

Small four wheel cars for Porters and gas mechanicals are even greater!  Box cars, tank cars and more.

How about some small 4 wheel cars to go with the small engines?

I use a variation on the method described in the 2006 On30 Annual.  Much easier than the French take it all apart method.

I did a small industrial layout and used Atlas code 83 track with every two ties removed.  The track may look too light for a logging layout with eight wheel cars.  I use small locomotives and four wheel cars.
