This was literally on the bottom of the second page, and crash didn't know about this topic already being made... so i brought it back up, and that would fix the problem. The everything Thomas topic comes and goes, but this one gets buried real fast and causes problems (extra threads about what people want bachmann to make that could be placed here)

It would help if the bachmann or any other admin would kindly make this and the everything thomas topic a sticky topic ...  ::)

A Bachmann 4-8-4 should be able to get the job done, mine pulled 20 cars at 60 percent throttle, slipped a bit, but this was a 2% helix, over 12 feet of track to climb. It will pull 12 cars easily. A 2-8-0 can do the same. an 0-6-0, 2-6-0, and 4-4-0 will pull 12 cars, but not up an incline, especially the 4-4-0. Hope this helps steam wise!

I had my hopes up for the WW2 story that was suppose to be like Thomas and the magic railroad... :(

This is not that movie.  The description says that it IS another direct to DVD(/BlueRay) release.

I know, i just figured that the WW2 movie was next up on the list to be released.

When i zoomed in, i saw What probably is Jack, the rocket for sure, an 0-4-0 similar to Dash and bash  and 2 american stream liners... the blue one visible to most looks like a 4-8-4 configuration, while the second one looks to be the same kind, but red (right  behind the rocket if you zoom in.)

Crash, the Thomas folks aren't too cheery about dead threads coming back...usually the greatest idea is to make a new thread or throw it in the everything Thomas topic if you think it won't be huge or if its a question like "why doesn't it work?" or "some advice on..." I really ticked them off when i first joined... what was it... 5-6 threads i brought up?  ;D (maybe Sparks remembers) But anyway, just a friendly heads up.  ;)

Thomas & Friends / Re: iHobby Show

I actually went to that show today with 2 of my friends (i don't think it was worth the $10 to get in but that's besides the point) and the first thing i said to the one was that the Thomas fans will be mad... and in a way, i was right  :)

Either way, im gonna throw in my two cents... sense i come and go on the Thomas part of the board. The main market for the chuggington model trains is young kids, probably 6-10 range. Believe it or not, this actually might be a good marketing idea. I've only seen 2 full episodes and can tell why kids like it. In a way, it reminded me of the classic Thomas, before all of the "can you find the square?" or "Which engine takes which cars?" stuff came along. The second friend liked the idea and wanted to buy all 3 locos for open houses... this blew my mind actually. Thomas was a smash hit for the 2 open houses i ran him at, before that, I've heard the famous question "where's Thomas?" I've never heard a little kid call out anything else... but after seeing leokinvideo's different reviews, there just may be a market. So lets give these models a chance, and maybe, just maybe, there will be chuggington fans in the Thomas board. It's Thomas & friends for a reason  ;) For the creative folks, this just might be a chance to start chuggington model train series and possible combining of the 2 for model train series. We'll see what time brings, i wish the best to bachmann, and a bright future to these new products.

QuoteYeah, saw that one also but did not want to link to the Bachmann site because of all the other manufacturers.

Good point! But if they take offense to linking to a magazine that promotes them/they advertise in, that's a little over the top. I didn't see any N&W unit?

my geuess is they will do 10 units, and release the other 10 in 2014 or something. I hope they release regular roads too... but I can wait  ;D

Utdave, thanks, glad you like them!

Southwest chief: I don't wanna give the "BIG" surpise away, but when it comes to the S2, there are some photos on model train news. just click on the link and look for October 11th. there'll be a blue link that shows pictures of the new releases.

HO / Offical release: S2 & piggy backs?
October 10, 2012, 05:33:42 PM
Mr Bachmann, i was wondering when the Alco S2s and Piggy back trailers were going to be released. The S2s said September and the piggy backs said November. I'm sure they'll hit the market before December, but i figured I'd ask. :)

Thomas & Friends / Re: Your collection

I got Thomas. was going to put DCC into him but it backfired terribly, so now he's a dummy (not cause I cracked his dome for being a smart allic) So now he's the main attraction at the model train club I go to with their open houses. Other than that, I get some laughs at him helping a Bachmann ATSF S4 and B&O FA-2 with a 20 car freight train. Hope I'm not violating the topic rules for having just 1 item.

HO / Re: shelving for locos and rolling stock
September 19, 2012, 06:51:25 PM
Good idea, but it'll probably be out of my price range, got a load of cars with no boxes, sense most are older stuff that'll eventually be rebuilt, which will add up quickly, but will pay off.

HO / shelving for locos and rolling stock
September 19, 2012, 01:41:32 PM
My mom wants all of my model trains moved up to the attic, so she bought an industrial shelving unit from home depot. First thing i thought when i looked at it was "good for boxes... bad for stuff without boxes". So then i got the idea of making wooden shelves that are about 4-5 inches wide and so many feet long (i forgot how long the shelving unit is). From there, i'd have an NMRA track gauge and mark down the wood where ho scale rails would be. After that, i'd take my pocket knife and slowly carve down the line. The end product is basically 2 lines to be the same size as ho scale track, and would be lined up with about an inch of plexi glass so that if someone bumped the shelf, none of the models would fall off the track... easily  :P.

Anyway, i was wondering if anyone can give me tips or suggestions on this project. the soonest it will be done is October, so theres time to sort things out if needed.

Thanks for any help!  :)

Plus, these aren't DCC, so having 2 powered locos in a set is a bit over kill... just my opinion.
