If you have your own website you can load them in the same as your others for your page photos and link them the same way.

General Discussion / Re: E-Z Command Voltage
January 07, 2015, 11:38:20 PM
As long as the output is 16vac from the power supply the unit will never realise what the primary voltage is.

It does sound like you let the magic smoke out though, once released its finished.

If it does work it likely wont be for long

So when your running the loco on the bench are you just letting the wheels spin on the track while holding the locomotive in place?

With all you have done and writen here I tend to think its something shorting in the loco as it vibrates.

I would place it on the track in qeustion and simulate what you do on the bench all the way around the track.

If it stops at the same places on the track every time its likely the track, if its stopping at random places every time its likely the loco or the power pack or a combo of both.

Its easy to add an led light to it, i added one with 680ohm restors.

Because leds must have correct polarity when wired, they do not come on going forward but light up when backing. The only wires needed connect to power pickups

It strange that you have burned out these units they have overload protectiong and after the over heat they should start working again after a few minutes once they cool down.

I would put a volt meter on your house power to see if its running hi.

You can keep an eye out for old.sets, they also had the manual turnouts.

The front truck on new sets it connected buy a bar, it will seem wobbly if your holding the loco in the air, it simply rides around in the track, on a life size loco it would carry some weight, on the models it does not but does have a set of electrical pickups,

Not having the photo makes it hard to help,

The EZ track turnouts all come with the manual slide switch built in, I have not seen non-electrified ez track turn outs for sale.

Your description sounds like a very old (not ez track)  bachmann turnout. If that's the case you should google "ho scale manual switch machine"

Hopefully this helps, or maybe someone will chime it.

What area of world do you live in?
Allied model trains in Culver City CA. has a short display of hanging track fabricated from what looks like oak, if I recall correctly there was a sign advertising the maker of the modular track system.

You can see it here with street view, you can click the arrows and go inside the store and look around, they are doing this for most stores in major cities now.

Re: big jim losing addresses,
As others said something is a wrong if your losing addresses, I have several locos that I only use at Christmas, they are stored for 11months and they always have retained the addresses that they have been changed too.

Re: original posters ?'s
A lot of good info here.

You mention its for a christmas layout so I am guessing its a continuous  loop of track.

I use bachmanns ez command and a Bachmann loco with an added sound decoder and speaker.

You missed the fine print once, dont miss it again and buy a decoder without sound.

That said, I must comment that although sound is fun when your running trains, on a christmas layout that is contineously running after the novelty of sound wares off many people shut the sound off simply because it gets annoying listening to the constant chuff,
Just something to think about before you go to the added expense.

On30 / Re: Power to On30 Christmas streetcar
November 25, 2014, 09:47:07 PM
I may be reading something into this, but your power supply works, then it shuts off then after a few minutes or so it works again?

It sounds like it is the internal overload protection that is tripping, it could be a intermittent short in the track or something wrong with your trolley that is causing a short or overload.

Does your trolley work / run the same speed as it did before?

Check the amp draw with your multimeter then compare against the amp rating on the power pack.

Be sure the track.is clean and your trolley has not picked up any carpet or snow fibers and gotten them wrapped around the axles causing binding.

Is it the power supply that came with the set?
Did you buy this used?

Thanks Jerry,

your right, little brain fart there, it is indeed "Anyrail", sorry to the poster for the mis-information on the name.
