HO / Re: Clean track

Hi....EB is correct.  The biggest culprit nowadays is dust and other particles suspended in the air.  Even under the cleanest conditions, dust'll find a way to get in you house and head straight for your layout (it seems...).  This is most noticeable if trains haven't been run regularly, as the trains help in getting some of the dust off.  To ALWAYS keep your track clean, use one (or several) of my TRACK GUARDS when you run the trains.  You'll forget there ever was such a thing as dirty track....

Take a look at it.  It's listed on eBay right now.  Search for TRACK GUARD HO TRAINS under the Toys and Hobbies category.  Current listing ends Saturday 11:00 PM CDT.  Thanks if you look.

BTW..Nickel Silver track oxidizes as much as most other metals.  The great thing about it, it's that the oxide is conductive, so it doesn't present a problem.

Hi...I think so...(and apparently several hundred other users as well).  It is easy to install, unobtrusive, and can be mounted on almost any existing car in your roster.  You don't need a "special" car that is totally out of scale and stands out like a sore thumb (and that can cost upwards of $20+).  Plus...being relatively unexpensive, you can have several cars outfitted and have them running, keeping your track clean.  If you checked out the item and the feedback comments you can see that loads of people think it's great..!!

Hi...If you haven't tackled this job yet, DON'T  remove the trucks on the tender..!! You don't have to.  To open up the tender, just remove the screw behind the front truck mounting screw.  This will allow removal of the tender shell.   Then just remove the "jump" board from the PC board and plug in your decoder.  Be sure to plug the #1 pin into the #1 hole...I presume you have a "plug & play" decoder, otherwise you're going to have to do some wire cutting and soldering.

Don't you hate it when that happens...!!!  I rarely get a chance to do anything during the week...I've just about made my mind up that Friday evenings are the earliest I'll get to do anything.  Anyway...keep us posted.

Weather here is hot AND muggy.  Looking to get worse...

Cookie,

How dare you post an uniformed suggestion!  Aren’t you aware that by doing so you are: A. Leading people astray, and B, forcing the leading experts in the field to come back and ridicule you in public?

You (and everyone else here) should take into account that these gentlemen should not be put into such a situation.  I’m sure they’ve got better things to do.  Particularly since they’ve already provided the solution to this issue.  So I suggest that all who are not self-appointed experts in this (or any other) field please refrain from offering obviously wrong suggestions and allow others to set matters right without having to read a bunch of useless posts, and worse…to have to come back and expose our ignorance.

So please people, think twice before posting what will only be inconsiderate intromissions into someone else’s valuable time and expertise.

Thank you.
