HO / Re: More HO Phase V P42's

Thanks for clearing that up Mr. Bachmann. Are you guys at Bachmann releasing/re-introducing any Amtrak products for the anniversary? And have you ever thought about making any Phase 5 P42's? It would be a good profit considering you would be the only company to continuously make them, since Walthers releases them every now and then (and even still they're limited runs).
Athearn makes the AMD 103 P40 and P42 Genesis models, and Walthers got the exclusive rights for the phase V "Acela" paint scheme for their Genesis locomotives, but now that Athearn owned by Horizon the only Athearn product Walthers sells is this loco.
I'm not sure when that agreement ends, but until then Walthers decides when to release new runs, how many, what numbers, and by doing short limited runs keeps the demand up.

that demand for one paint scheme is not enough, however, to justify development of whole new model by another company.

Summit USA kits are laser cut plastic structures of mostly modern box type builings like lowes and strip malls, as well as hotels and fast food shops.

OK, so you have DCC power hooked  up to the TT where the DC direction switch would be plugged in, yes?
remove the decoder and reinstall the jumper plug, does the motor sing (buzz)?
Yes? then the issue is with the decoder.
NO? then you need to track down the power interuption between the motor and the command station.
DC TT control hookup
TT <double flat plug red wire> Direction Control box < single flat plug red wire > DC power supply
DCC TT control hookup
TT <single flat plug red wire > DCC Command Station

both versions, track powered thru track connection

Just spitballing since I have not seen one in person yet, but since it looks and operates very much like the Atlas one...
the turntable should have separate power connections for the motor and the track power, do you have both setsconnected to your DCC power bus
For DCC operation, they can share connections to the power bus, but DC operation would require isolated connections for both rail power and TT motor operation. In DC mode, f they shared connections, the loco would run off everytime you tried to move table, and vise versa, the table would turn as you operated the loco.

power supply/powerpack would be different, but the power supplied by them out to the tracks would be the same, 12-16 volts DC.
Bachmann China produces some of the finest locomotives and rolling stock available in plastic today.
The ND5 is just Amazing!!

HO / Re: Adding sound to DCC equiped 4-8-4's.

For the sound only module,
connect the red wire to the tender right side rail pickup, and the black wire to the left side rail pickup.
mount speaker over grill in the tender floor, and secure the sound module board down with double stick foam tape.
program to same address as loco motor decoder.

The axle gears from the  f9 (not the f7) willl fit if you widen the gear openings on the bottom of the DD truck frame.
I have also been told that the gears from the brill streetcar will fit

NWSL also makes a replacement wheel/axle set for the older plus ans spectrum versions, but for what it costs, you can replace the whole loco with the new DCC on Board version

When removing the board, note that the wire connections are marked
P+, P-, M+, and M-,
write down the colors for each, or when cutting wires from board,
leave a 1/8" or so connected showing insulation colors.

The first time I did one, I too, took Thomas completely apart, only to find that it all could be done thru the roof.
I have not done a Percy in a long time, and don't remember for sure if it works the same way.
Gordon and James do require disassembly to get to the board/motor for decoder.

I don't know about that one, but I do know there is one from 1855, in the Gasconade river, at Gasconade, Missouri, about ten miles from my house.
story here
http://cprr.org/Museum/Gasconade_Disaster.html
The corps of engineers dragged the wreckage out of the channel along the east bank, left it there, and there it remains.
You can still see it when the river is really low, but if you didn't know it was a locomotive, you would never be able to guess what it was from whats still there.
