i kind of find it hard to believe Thomas having a low budget. Thomas is a muti-MILLION dollar gold mine! they only switched the CGI because they didn't want to pay the taxes on it. they went from really good CGI, for a kids program, to not that great CGI. this situation is what I call "The Miller Effect" story lines go down, CGI goes up. Story lines go up, CGI goes down. just goes to show "you can't win!" -Duke
I wouldn't say taxes would be the sole reason for Thomas to turn into CGI.  Keeping the show the traditional model format would've been more expensive (as years go by that is) due to them building engines (some very useless ones at that), locations, etc. as well as filming costs as well. It was also since that the majority of kids shows and/or movies are all into the CGI format (as seen in Disney, Dreamworks, etc.), from what I recall reading somewhere.

I think what anthony meant was taxes motivated the move of production from British Columbia to Ontario.

I know, I was adding onto why Thomas and Friends moved productions. Don't worry.

One thing for sure is that they'll definitely be making characters from classic series since well it's what any nostalgic kids (like us) want right? After seeing how Duck was announced (as well as D&D, B&B, Terence, etc.), we practically went nuts. With the exception of Jeremy, they never made any other characters from the new/CGI series (though the choice in that was a little odd, but oh well).

Well... if you checked up on the 2013 Wooden Railway Yearbook confirmed (as well as another one), that Sydney has been confirmed to appear in an episode called, 'New Wheels for Sydney'. No plot known at the moment, but we'll know eventually.

Well think about it, he works at the 'dusty' cement works, which would be enough to give anyone (engine or people) coughing problems... It could also mean that he's old in age as well, but only a possibility...

Well, Salty doesn't have a black cab, yet his windows are clear (though he does have clear/darkish gray windows in the TV/CGI series...). Just saying. I understand where you're coming from though. If they were to make a diesel like BoCo, since his windows are black, then that would also have to be taken into consideration (assuming if he's made at all).

Well, knowing the pattern with any diesel (Diesel, Mavis, and Salty), they usually color their windows silver, as opposed to the steam engines since they have the black windows.

Plus, it's a fictional island, which at this point shouldn't surprise anyone...

Not really, since Caitlin is based on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad streamlined President Class and Connor is based on the New York Central Railroad's Hudsons...

Well, admittedly, the models themselves would've been too expensive to keep around for a long while.  After all, in the modernizing world, everything (well, the majority of the kids shows that is) has been converted to CGI (like Bob the Builder, Angelina Ballerina, Fireman Sam, you name it!), so it's not like it'll stick around long in terms of the animation. They were enjoyable back in the day, but let's face it, there's something called reality that for those of you that still mope and dope over the animation-switchover....... SO GET OVER IT!!!!!!!

Anyway, there are pretty decent moments in that bit of the trailer (such as the animation on Spencer, the animation on the humans, etc.), though some improvements can still be made regardless, but it's too soon to jump the gun since it's not out yet...

Um, actually they were only featured in Season 4, utilizing the faces used on the narrow gauge slate trucks.... Such a shame that they weren't used as much, which hopefully opens up a possibility that they might be made, only a possibility...

They should be brought back only if the writing has been improved (starting with King of the Railway/Season 17)!!! So in a way, I prefer to wait if the series has redeemed itself, with the help of Andrew Brenner that is ;)
