here ya go Jward. I do know this is one heavy engine. it's quite as a mouse as well. I wonder if it's brass? the handrails are VERY tight as well, and if you can see the nose section ALOT of detail is present. The only problem with it is the back coupler box broke off and it's all metal, no plastic.guess it's time for some JBWeld eh?
Thanks,
Bal

Just wanted to show the remaining Sd40's in the collection.

other than ICG's all I really want is a dummy Chessie System SD40-2, and I will be very happy!

Nice to see another fan of the SD40-2's! I love 'em as well! My favorite engine. Here is a pic of the IC Sd40/SD40-2's I'm collecting, Just two more and I will have all that was produced. Come Christmas time I think the elves over at Athearn will make me very happy. =) Not to mention the BN SD40-2 Dummy and the 3 other SD40-2's in the back, SanteFe, NS, and UP ones in the far back tracks. =) Two are Bachmann, the rest are Athearn, except for one and I don't know what it is. It's the Sante Fe one but it's a powerhouse. Oh, almost forgot I also have an undecorated SD40-2 from BLI that is getting some custom work to match the second photo below. They are all DCC now.

General Discussion / Doodlebug

In a previous post were I posted a short vid of our train museum we have here in my home town, someone asked to get a better shot of what looked like a custom made work engine. Well, it's been a VERY busy spring and summer- 1. Umpiring girls fast pitch softball, 2. 5 month old in the house, 3. Full time job,4. Dealer Room Director at the World Horror Convention this past June in New Orleans, 5. Releasing 4 new books starting in June and also writing short stories for short story collections from invites....whew...I think that's it! Anywho.. I have found that engine for you. It's called the Doodlebug. It was in service at the Fernwood pulpwood plant in the 1930's. It ran service men from McComb to Fernwood and some other fairly odd jobs I'm sure. But here it is in all it's glory. The first pic is the ONLY pic of it in service and the second is it fully restored and its gorgeous picture taken on it's 75th birthday. Sorry it's taken me so long to get this up here on the boards for you!

Best,
Bal

download the Anyrail software and your layout will become a breeze! Even the trial version should get you where you need to go!

hm does it have the same engine as a 6000? Because it sounded just like my bli(the same whoops, clanks and everything)...the engineer even told me it was a 6000...because I asked.

Well, Amtrak surprised all of us with a stop hop in and walk around this past Saturday for National Train Day here in McComb,MS. To my surprise the lead was a GE-AC6000. They kept it running the whole time, and it sounded just like my BLI undecorated model...sound for sound...and come to find out Amtrak has 5 of these in service running the city of New Orleans route...here is a short vid when it arrived..it may be loud so you might want to turn your speakers down a bit...that baby is HUGE and LOUD...and when it departed...WOW...a rocket would be putting it mildly...more pics and a vid of Canadian National's Lil Obie kid ride to come!
Best,
Bal

Thanks, guys for the comments. I do let him have pretty much free reign over the layout. I hope it does endure throuhg his lifetime.

Jonathan, yes, I will be painting the AC6000 in my own rail line. If you watch another vid towards the end I show what it will or I HOPE it will end up like.

well, I was impressed with BLI so much I got an undecorated SD40-2 here is the video for that one as well. =) Thanks again for the comments!

well, darn..can't get the link to work..will post it up when I get home!

and here is the photo I was talking about in the SD40-2 video...I don't think they will be able to do it. The BLI has only 2 top lights the photo ref has 3....kinda bummed... :-\

Here is a short video of my BLI GE-AC6000 pulling a LONG consist...I love how this baby can creep without any trouble. The vid starts out with 35 it ends up being 37 after Grafton, the conductor adds a few more cars and a dummy engine!
