Williams by Bachmann / Re: 2-rail DC and DCC

Lee,

I got a wonderful mechanic work back from a good pal who had done the mechanical conversion of the PA trucks for me. I have now added a MRC G-scale decoder (MRC 1817) to give the PA´s a more active life...

Well, would be awesome if Bachmann could offer them in 2-Rail once. Williams had awesome 2-Rail models, I once had a brass Challenger which was a dream...

Cheers, Tom

The Trestle, by the way is made by pre-manufactured trestle bends, the rest came from me...

She runs without extra wipers, best if you try to get the wheels blank. I have fabricated a simple pickup for the tender which is that easy: A piece of brass wire against the wheels from the back. Works.
I used a ESU sound decoder in the tender, so to the front thre are just the wires to the motor and pickups.

Here´s the C&S result with a Beartrap and a extended C&S coal load...

True! Just take your time and go ahead with care. Its nothing impossible!
I just have altered the tender of my C&S No.21 to the more accurate version plus added a Beartrap. It´s a Colorado Icon now!!! Spraypainted and slightly weathered...

Williams by Bachmann / 2-rail DC and DCC
February 15, 2011, 04:22:43 PM
Hey Bachmann/Williams folks!

Ages ago, Williams did make wonderful 2-Rail models, steamers - a dream.
Beeing a 2-Railer, I would like to see Williams by Bachmann re-enter the 2-Rail market,
as this is growing permanently. I just had a good friend reconstruct my 3-rail D&RGW Alco PA into a 2-rail model. Bachmann - you can do this by yourself.

Please get us affordable, well detailed, good running 2-rail models and I´m sure you will be able to do the magich influence you had in the On30 market again in O-Scale 2-rail.

Why not...?

Please make my day, folks...! :) :) :)

Jason,

did you already check out the PSC On3 parts catalogue?
If you have a chance to grab one, best do it! It´s a bible!!!!

Precision Scale has got masses of perfect detail parts to do a backdating...

Best use a small flat scredriver or chisel blade which you slide between the metal chassis and the plastic body shell. There is a small lug underneath the firebox on the rear of the engines plastic body shell. You got to press here and gently pull up the body shell. Give it a help from the sides and try to keep the sand tubes intact. The body shell should come off with ease then.

You got to isolate the motor contacts to wire the decoder direct then.  Cut off the plug and wire motor and wipers direct to the decoder. Rest should work fine.

Best, make a small slot for the wires along the boiler weight or tape them to the weight.

No, they haven´t upgraded the 2-6-0 in any way. But sound can be added, it´s a bit of work, but can be done. I have done 3 sound upgrades following Harold Minkwitz´s recommendations and it worked out fine.

I would buy a batch of them too. Have built wood/diecast models from kits already, but I think it´s time to see a Bachmann-built Donkey/Log Loader etc. too. Lots of variations possible too...

But please keep in mind that we still deserve a H...... engine already.....? ;) ;) ;)

There´s another awesome thing I forgot to mention: You can easily cut down the boards to a mid-height or whatever -Gondola. I did make a batch of work Gons D&RGW style for me....  It´s easy!

It is removable! Just that easy: Turn it upside down and let the coal load slide out.
Did you know that you can use the load on a low side gondola too? Paint it in a approbiate ballast colour of your choice and there you go!

Have fun!

Hi there folks,

would please someone so kind and check the wheel diameters and the axle width for me on a ´72 Williams Streamliner (wouldn´t care which type, they should all have the same data) ?

The reason I´m asking is, that I just bought a set, but as I´m running 2-Rail trains, I´will need to convert them to 2-Rail axles. To order them, I would need the dimensions... Don´t have them here, but as they need to cross the Atlantic first, I would really appreciate your help, folks!

Thank you so much.
Kind regards, Tom ;) ;) ;)

No, we won´t get silent until we have this H...... engine... Did I say I mean something with gears...
NOW GIVE US THAT DARN THING BACHMANN; PLEEEEAAASE....  ;) ;) ;)

Don´t get me wrong: It won´t be something darn, rather it will be something much beloved, long wished and wanted and well-deserved, isn´t it..??? ;) ;) ;)

Narrow Gauge and Shortline Gazette - as my other pals have already recommended...

It´s not all On30 in there, but it´s the best-ever Model Railroad Magazine especially for us Narrow Gaugers... I did never regret for a second having ordered it; I even bought older issues at Ebay so I got 1990-today complete...

They do a wonderful job, inspiring and accurate drawings in here. Older issues have the same high value for modelling, so if you can grab some at Ebay or a swapmeet - here is your chance... It´s not all Colorado Narrow Gauge in here (even if I personally wished... :) :) :)) and there´s a high-class source of information. Enjoy!

Cheers, Tom ;) ;) ;)
