Check out "Just Plain Old Country Folks". Lots there, that's where I got my engineer Bob and fireman Fred for my K-27 from. But they are fragile and lot of them to choose from.

The optical sensors in the K-27 don't work all that well. You are better off to put magnets on the the tender axle and use a reed switch. By the way I'm a revet counter and I gave up and used the read switch method and it works great.

Large / Closing

Say it's not so, I buy a lot of my railway stuff from Ridgeroad Station and I just heard its closing in a few months. We have lost 2 hobby stores in southern Ontario this year alone.
It's true that hobbies are the first to go when times get hard.
That would be my guess why new engines are far and few between.

Besides Phoenix, who else makes sound for the K-27. Having a second K-27, I would like to have a different sound in it.
Thanks in advance

Large / Battery Control for K-27

Has anyone tried to install the Aristocraft Revolution into a K-27 ?
I am told you take out the dummy board, place the Aristocraft decoder in its place, switch the control sliders for battery power, add batteries, and sound system and then program the decoder and Bob's your uncle, your K-27 is running. In less than 1 hour.
Is this about right. does anyone have thoughts on this.
I am also told that the decoder is made to drop into the K-27 mother board with no problems.
Thanks in advance for all answers.

If you don't mind buying from a Canadian hobby store, go to your computer and google Hockley Valley Railway. John has lots of AMS stock on hand and check out ( the collectors weekly ) too. there is a Bachmann Caboose for bidding on it. Good luck.

No, it's not you, they do look striped.
Have you been sleep kit bashing ?. It's another side affect of model railroading. It is said to happen when you get overwhelmed with a project. Hasn't happened to me yet, only heard about it.

I have only 2 thoughts when air brushing or using paint by brush.
( 1 ) Make sure you washed the old body shell, to get rid of dirt and oils from your dirty little fingers.
( 2 ) After you have painted your piece of equipment, and had it dry for about 1/2 an hour, from a distance, and I mean a far distance away, use a hair dryer to lightly heat the tape to make it a little easier to carefully peel it off your project.
I also like Tamiya or True line paints because they are water base and look great with easy clean up too. I use windshield washer fluid to clean up my mess when finished painting.
