If you do not totally remove that little board on top of the motor it is STILL in the circuit. Remove the board and leave your wires directly to the motor tabs.

I think you will find that the advice given by Tony Walsham is going to solve your problem. Bachmann service techs are not going to tell you to cut anything out, but I've seen this happen before.

Andrew
I think you know very well what I'm getting at. It's a marketing trick. The caboose is not new, it's reintroduced. So why not state the truth?

You have to first upload them to an internet location so they have a URL to link on this forum.

So it's just like catching a fish, hauling it in and then leaving it on the hook and putting it back in the water. Then you haul it it up again and proclaim you caught another one! Slick  ;D

"Don't get any grease on the chuff sensor on the rear axle "

I never saw a chuff sensor on the REAR axle.  ???

Running these two truck geared locos, Shay, Climax and Heisler, on tight radius curves does them absolutely no harm. The two trucks each have a small wheel base and were made for tight curves just like their prototypes. RJ's "warning" is moot for this type of loco.

That is what I was trying to tell you.  :-\

From the original post, how on Earth did you determine which Spectrum loco wasmith34 has? You must have psychic powers!  ???

Subject says it all, mostly.  I have one of the earliest Shays and am just rebuilding it.  If it has chuff contacts anywhere I haven't found them yet.  Anyone know?  Thanks, Dennis
Did you remove the cylinder assembly and look at the backside, top ? That is where they should be.

Hey Joe,

Glad you are enjoying your 45 tonner.  Definitely huge when placed next to an annie!!!

Have fun,

Bill

You should see it next to one of my Bachmann Industrial Moguls. They are both 1:20.3 scale !!!!
