Thomas & Friends / Re: Wishlist thread
August 09, 2012, 09:40:13 PM
If I haven't already posted here, my wishlist pretty much follows what everyone else has put up here.

Engines being Oliver after Duck, 'Arry and Bert to reuse the Diesel mold, Rosie for another female engine (and because I really really like the character), and/or perhaps BoCo for a nice change of things.

The desired rolling stock follows the flock, being the original Breakdown Crane, The Works Unit Coach to go with the crane, a new Troublesome Truck(possibly like the van in "A Close Shave"), and Toad to go with Oliver. The Red Branch Line Coaches are also a possibility, however I would like to see the return of the Red Express Coaches first..

In terms of off road things, Trevor or Bulgy would be high on my list, followed close by The Fat Controller's Hatt-Blue Car and I would like to see a building or two come into the range. Perhaps a Signal Box or "Wellsworth Station".

I'd expect to see Toby or even Diesel follow the current crop in the Large Scale range, if the range continues to sell well.

But what I'd like to see most of all, in HO, is a special set featuring an engine (say Thomas) with an exclusive face to that set. The other Thomas competitor for HO/OO has done such a thing to promote a Thomas special; why not give it a go? Said set would most likely feature Thomas(or another engine) with 3 to 4 trucks and an oval of track as usual, perhaps even a siding with buffers.. but the special thing about the set would be the engine's face. If the theme were "Hard at Work", Thomas would be featured with a tired face, or a straining face like in the original Television series, perhaps with red cheeks. The loco itself could be 'dirtied up' with coal dust specks or dirt, to make him look like he's been working hard as the set name suggests.

That's something I'd really like to see from (in my opinion) the best big Thomas & Friends HO model-makers out there. :)

Lookin' good!
One thing that puzzles me- what are you going to do with the extra Diesel faces?

Thomas & Friends / Re: The Layout Thread
May 22, 2012, 12:30:38 AM
The track near the wall concerns me. I'm just a little worried that there is not enough clearance for certain locos, or cranes, to make the bend without smacking the wall. Similar concern goes for the bend hanging over.. nothing. Derailment could mean disaster, much worse than tapping the wall.

But other than that, I think the layout is coming along great. I love that it's not just an oval, instead making a sort of mushroom-shape, and thus more interesting to look at.
The sheds seem to take over the layout, dominate if you will(I recall someone else said that too?), but I imagine as more buildings and scenery goes in it won't be such a big issue. Do you plan to use the space next to the turntable as a yard, take advantage of some of the other track connections on the turntable, or do you have other plans?

As I said before, your layout's coming along great. Keep up the good work!

Too bad about the body mishap. From what I can see, Den's coming along great.
And Dennis too! The method is a bit interesting, using the Trackmaster body with OO kit parts.. I look forward to seeing how both turn out. :)

I would very much like to see Trevor join the range, especially considering how well Bachmann have done creating their most recent models, such as Diesel, The Scots, and Edward. I would hope that the face is similar to the face used in the model era of the TV series, but since the face used in the CGI era is so similar, I wouldn't mind it either way.

As much as I would love to see BoCo, I think it might be more likely that Daisy would come first. She's a diesel who can carry passengers. I think that would be a must-have item, before BoCo. I think the only problem would be the weight. Daisy is a lightweight diesel-railcar, so naturally wouldn't be able to pull much. Only real flaw with it I think.

As for the others..
I'd like to see Oliver and Toad accompany Duck and Scruffey, and perhaps maybe Bulgy could be added to the range somehow?

As much as I'd like to see Stepney, I just don't think it's likely. He hasn't been seen for a long while in the show, and even with all the older fans I don't think the demand is large enough for the Bluebell engine we love :/

Aaaandd.. that's it really.

Indeed.
It's very likely that all three locos were based heavily on the '3D' promo art from the time(I have some playing cards with that kind of promo art), instead of on the promotional pictures or any screenshots of the models from the show, and I think too that it is time the three first models got an update, as well as Annie, Clarabel, and maybe the two Troublesome Trucks.

Like SnowflakeTH said before, they have the plans and means to use the large-scale model's blueprints to update the HO/OO scale locos/stock, all they(Bachmann) have to do is do it.  Especially to James. I mean, that engine is massive compared to the TV series model, or even to the CG model! He just towers over Gordon, and that spot by the smokebox.. but I digress.

SodorAdventures, I think Caleb means "G.Ruffy", like S.C.Ruffey but with stubble. He's mentioned it in an earlier thread. Besides, Caleb's already well into HO modelling.

Thomas & Friends / Re: Favorite characters...
March 31, 2012, 12:53:15 PM
If the topic means to focus on favorite New Series characters, then I would go with Rosie, Rocky, Stanley, and Molly. Just something about Molly makes her fit in so well with the rest of the 'Big' Engines.

I like Scruff for his looks, but not as much character (seeing as he hasn't been given much screen time to develop it), Neville, and Murdoch.

If we are to include the classics, Edward, James, and Duck have a high place in my heart.

Reginald is one of those engines, isn't he? I seem to remember the character appearing in your old series..

How many other Fantasy engine characters do you think you have?

Stepney, my man, I am very impressed by the quality of your models. Lining looks good on Paxton, a little 'wobbly', but I would NOT have the patience to do it as well as you have.
The other diesels look great too; I love Daisy and Derek, thought I think Daisy needs a brakepipe on her front(correction, two pipes) bufferbeam to complete her look. Other than that, she's marvelous.

D261 and Stuck Up look good, can't help feeling the latter's face looks too kind for the character, but the rest of the engine looks good. I see you've updated BoCo's face, (filled in the mouth), very nice, and your Steam engines look great too. Wilbert's my personal favorite out of the three, but you've done well with all your models. =)

And Church, the coaches are coming along great.

Thomas & Friends / Re: Thomas Fan series
March 20, 2012, 06:53:45 PM
I (under the name Lhatt63) am working on a fan series myself, over on the Sodor Island Forums, called "The Old Iron Quarry Stories". Just using elements from Season 5 of T&F and forgotten-about characters to make a series.. first 'episode' is in progress now, and will be posted to the thread in the next few days.

Thomas & Friends / Re: 98462 and 87546

Are there any other kinds of engines that the two engines could be? Surely B12s weren't the only 4-6-0s with internal cylinders at the time "Edward's Day Out" takes place..

And what of 87546? Some have said he could be a B17, and I believe Richard of Si3D had plans to make his 87546 Cecil from his "Dark Times" series into a B17, but instead reskinned his B12 model.

Surely there are other prototypes that the two could be based upon?

It's unknown what color Edward was painted before his Sodor days, but most assume that is the case.

Arthur II is looking great so far! I still think the Trackmaster Face is a little odd, but it's better than the Wooden Railway face, and it looks like it fits properly, so I move on.

Will you be making any different facial expressions for Arthur, or any of your other engines, like Diesel 10, like you've done in the past, or will you be relying on photo-editing when it comes to episode making?

I wish you luck with the lining, I hope it comes out just right. :)

Nicely done, Stepney55! I think the face suits the engine well. The modification with the valve gear is rather nice too.
Will you be doing anything else to the loco? I noticed that Hank from Season 12 of Thomas & Friends had buffers on his tender, but not on his front. Do you think you'll be doing something like that, or leaving the tender the way it is?
If and when your original character debuts in your series, I look forward to the day. :)

G. Ruffy (heh, nice one) sounds like an interesting sort of Truck. If you need a voicer, let me know. I'm still working on my audition video for your series.. :)
I look forward to seeing how he looks when he's finished.

All this modelling talk makes me more and more want to start myself! I have plans to modify a Bachmann Junior 0-6-0 Saddletank into something.. else.. but that'll have to wait until I can get the funds to get one.   ::)
