Williams by Bachmann / Seaboard Air Line 602
September 27, 2011, 08:31:01 PM
Any plans to produce the Seaboard 602 diesel switcher in the Golden Memories Line? I sure would like a nice NEW dual motor version to run on my layout. My 602 was originally my Father's, and while I cherish it, I would like to have a mint version to run also!! ;D

I finally splurged a couple of years ago and bought an MTH-Z4000. What a powerhorse! It will run anything I throw at it. I can even run two dual motored Williams locos on the same track as a lash up. I think that a good powerful transformer is a great investment. My KW can play back-up and Christmas Tree duty now. ;)

A nice bay window caboose or SP style caboose would be great. ;D

My most recent purchase was a WbB Burlington caboose to go with my Lionel post war Burlington GP7. I think that it looks great!

In the next photo you will see my Williams by Bachmann Santa Fe F3 A-B-A diesels pulling seven MTH Railking Santa Fe streamline passenger cars through 060 FasTrack curves.

In this photo is my Williams by Bachmann C&O BL2 which is an excellent running locomotive. On this end of my layout the inner oval has 036 curves and the outer oval has 048 curves. I have found that Lionel FasTrack works fine with my Williams locomotives.

My layout has Lionel FasTrack with 36, 48 and 60 inch curves. I use all 036 switches and my Williams by Bachmann trains all operate fine on that track system. I run my trains with an MTH Z4000 and my old Lionel KW transformer. I hope this helps. In this photo is my Williams PRR small Hudson.

I would also like to run multiples of my F units and Geeps on my layout on seperate tracks but with different cab numbers.

Right Lee. MTH and Lionel are the two big guns out there in the remote control systems for O gauge. MTH being DCS and Lionel being TMCC or Legacy Control. I prefer to run my trains in conventional mode. My layout consists of three seperate ovals and is only 8'6" x 13'10" in a "C" shape. I do not think that any of my loops are a long enough run for two trains without one being on the other's tail. And by running only in conventional mode it keeps my costs and operational headaches down. But, like I said, to each his own.

Robert,
I am not too familiar with any of the current remote control systems out now. I run all of my equipment in conventional mode. Guys like Lee and others are more familiar with DCC control systems. MTH and Lionel seem to be the big guys out there, but I know that there are others who run adds in the two big toy train magazines with DCC control systems. I would talk to people who use these systems, try them out in person on a layout, and then make a decision from there.

Lee,
Same here, I have a switch for the transformer's power outlet on my wall. When I leave my Train Room I turn off the lights and I also throw the switch below it which powers my transformers.

Robert, I have Lionel Trains as old as from 1949 to the present. I also have some Atlas Idustrial rail, K-line, MTH and Williams freight cars. My locomotives are about 85% Lionel, maybe 10% (and growing) Williams and 5% MTH and K-Line combined. They all mix and run well together. Of the last five locomotives I have purchased four have been Williams or Williams By Bachmann. You just can't beat a dual-motored Williams diesel for pulling power and reliability. One of the best things I did was purchase an MTH Z-4000 transformer to run my trains. Plenty of power. I plan on purhasing a second one later this year as my layout has three seperate lines on it. My layout is built with the FasTrack System from Lionel which has performed flawlessly in the 2 years since I built my new layout. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THAT YOU BUY WILLIAMS/WBB, you absolutely can't go wrong or beat the value!! ;)

P.S. , in my Bio-picture you will see my Williams/WBB Pennsy Alcos in front of me which I love and are ALWAYS on my layout!!!

Williams by Bachmann / Re: New Trucks
January 02, 2011, 11:19:06 AM
Bach-Man,
I have a question. I have some Williams By Bachmann freight cars and all of them are equiped with the old style trucks. I have noticed that the coupler height on WBB freight cars is higher than those of other O Gauge toy train manufacturer's couplers. Are the new couplers also going to ride higher or is the coupler height going to be the same as Lionel, MTH, K-Line, Industrial Rail, etc.?
