OK, I reset the decoder to factory specs (CV8 - and it works fine now so obviously I screwed something up when I reset the address. Thanks for the reply

No difference, but I will continue to play with it, hopefully I'll get it to work.

I have programmed my 2-4-4-2 to a new address (9005) while it responds to the address I can not get the loco go any faster than a crawl, either in 14, 28, or 128 speed steps. I'm using a MRC DCC

First, I'd like to thank everyone for trying to help me out here. I finally went to the Soundtraxx web site and followed their instructions to re-program the factory settings, the instructions can be found here;
http://www.soundtraxx.com/manuals/tsunamisteam_users_guide.pdf page 12. It involved setting CV 30 to value 2 on a program track, then placing the locomotive on a powered track and letting it recycle. You were probably right that one or more CV's were set to the wrong values, however since the engine ran this way right out of the box it must have occurred at the factory. Again, thanks.

Thanks, I'll try that, although as I said I didn't change any CV's other that what the MRC unit guides you through.

My guess is that you accidentally reprogrammed one of them without realizing it.  Best bet at this point is to reset the decoder back to factory settings and go on from there.

Because the MRC unit allows you to set "SV" (Start Voltage)  "TV" (Top Voltage) "AC" (Acceleration) etc. without actually putting a CV value in

New Alco 2-6-0 only runs at a very slow speed I have a MRC Prodigy system I have programmed the decoder to start at 3 volts with a top at 13 volts, I did not change any CV's, only address. Any suggestions?
