Hunt's suggestion is the best one you'll get! They should be able to walk you through the process over there. 

  Another thing to remember about Bachmann track is that it only comes in 1 foot straight sections and 4 foot radius (R1) curves. This makes for a very tight turn! The track is strictly indoors and doesn't mate with anybody else's.

Here's a couple of shots of my Bachmann Bumble Bee 2-8-0 BBT drive Annie:

  What doyou need it for? Bachmann's bells have been metal for as long as I can remember. The only company that uses plastic bells (other than the really cheap New Bright stuff) is LGB!

The point being that the "Flying Rio Grande" wasn't until the 40's and beyond while the "Moffat Hearald" design was earlier! There was a transition period where both were being used of a few years.

The earliest date by photographic evidence I have of the Moffat Herald design in use is 1924. The last year it was seen in use was 1942. The earliest that the Flying Rio Grande logo was seen was 1940 so there was an overlap of three years that I have photographic evidence of. Hope this helps.

My recommendation would be to contact Stan Cedarleaf with Cedarleaf Custom Railroad Decals. He has done extensive work with large scale and would be able to get you what you need. Here's the link:

  Acid will not clean brass the way you want it to. Your split-jaw clamps have weathered to a darkened patina. If you are concerned about electrical continuity, all you have to do is take a piece of very fine wet-sanding paper and run it over the inside of the groove where the railclamps make connection with the track. It doesn't require that it be shiny clean for good conductivity! There's no way to keep brass from darkening outside unless you paint the brass with clear polyurethane paint and that would ruin your conductivity.

I received mine from Caboose Hobbies last Friday and WOW!! Whooee!! That is one impressive piece of modeling!! I have the Rio Grande Moffat Road version and it really finishes off my train! From my Bachmann K-27 all the way to my Bachmann long caboose...life is good!!

  The Shay can navigate 4' dia. curves but it looks weird doing it! The 2-6-0 needs 5' minimum dia. but you have to do a small repositioning of the coal pile and use the farthest setting on the drawbar for it to barely work! As Barry suggested, 8' is really the minimum suggested although 6' should work.

  I'm sure the economy has something to do with the absence of "long lines" but honestly, when have we ever seen long lines other than right before Christmas? I'm sure that if you could wait the next four months, you would see these beauties flying off the shelves but for myself, I'll opt for getting them as soon as they show up! If they are here by the last weekend in Sept. (when I am attending Marty Cozad's annual battery/steamup at his place) then I will be content. If it doesn't, then I will hope for it before my Halloween Open House! Patience.
