HaHa. Why settle for 6 drivers when you can have 8? I think a 2-6-2 would be a nice addition as well. I'd buy one. I just think they need to release something with a "wow" factor to really draw some interest back to the product line. Let's face it, On30 was created for people wanting a train for their Christmas villages. The motivating factor was classic steam locomotive looks that proportionally looked good with Christmas village buildings. Point being, the real market isn't us prototype modelers. It's people who want something that looks like a traditional main line train that is bigger than HO and smaller than O scale.

Yes! I specifically mentioned WP&Y, but those S118 class is what I really had in mind. I believe the former WP&Y 2-8-2s that now run at Tweetsie and Dollywood were S118 class engines. You are right, they were used all over the world and several survive today in preservation. Probably more importantly they have that classic well-proportioned look that I think a lot of modelers are longing for.

I know it probably won't happen, but would love to see Bachmann produce a 2-8-2 mikado in On30. Either the EBT or WP&Y Mikes specifically as they appear more generic or any of the D&RGW K class locomotives. I feel like these "Big" engines would breath fresh life into the On30 line. Yes, they aren't 30" prototypes, but neither was the 4-6-0. I believe the size and proportions of the 36" gauge prototypes attract a different crowd than the small, somewhat whimsical 30" locomotives.

Has Bachmann considered re-releasing the Chinese QJ 2-10-2's for the U.S. market modified for the existing excursion versions?  Iowa Interstate Railroad has two QJ's.  One is basically unmodified but with Iowa Interstate lettering.  The other has been modified and painted to more closely resemble U.S. steam locomotives.  In addition there is an RJ Corman engine modified by removing the smoke deflectors and adding a large red stripe.  It seems like there would be a market for these.  I collect excursion steamers so I'd probably buy all three if they were available.
