Howabout a railroad specific SANTA FE 2-8-2 and/or 4-6-4 in Spectrum. an awfully large number of people model the SF. It's not like they'd get stuck with thousands of them in overstock. And please make them traction tire optional so we don't end up with a remake of the Genesis version.

There has been a thread on this not so long ago. The only resemblence between a Niagara and a Santa Fe 4-8-4 is the 4-8-4 wheel arrangement. Every thing else is totally different. Even the headlight is in a different place.
The early Overland engines wrer Santa Fe 4-8-4 Northerns. The present Overland's are Niagara's without elephant ears.

Artistic license. They used a design they already had rather than spend a huge amount of money on tooling for an accurate version.

Many years ago, Bachmann used the ATSF 4-8-4 Northern for the Overland. Today they use the NYC 4-8-4 Niagra without "Elephant Ears" for this engine.

A fatal error on Bachmann's part was re-issuing the ATSF 4-8-4 without  a set of traction tires, at least as an extra part. Are you going to make the same mistake with the 2-10-4s as well? If so, you can count me out. Thank you.

For Gods sake DON'T use 3in1 oil. Use Labelle 102 gear oil for the gears and Labelle 108 oil for the axle bearings.

Tomcat, UP's 4-8-4 was called an FEF,(Four-Eight-Four). Niagra is what NYC called thier 4-8-4's. It's an honest error though since Bachmann uses a NYC Niagra painted in UP colors for the Overland set. And they will navigate an 18" radius

There were three altogether. The silver and red Warbonnet, a Santa Fe dark (Pullman) green with a red nose and a Santa Fe green with a cat whisker type logo. I have all three and you're right, they usually pulled one or two passenger cars behind them.

     Good to hear from you again. I've installed several of the DSX decoders with no problems. And I suspect that will be the case here. I have 28 50 ton hoppers with modelrailstuff coal loads. They also don't have 2 alike. Each one is different. They also add weight to the car, unlike most other loads. I think they look pretty good.
