I also vote for the re-issues, Shay/ Climax/ 2-8-0/ Porters/ Davenport, and a new Prairie.  But a 0-6-0 Tank could easily be based on the 2-6-0, or even better make it a large 2-6-2T.  Just the tank and cab would need to be new, reusing everything else and adding a trailing truck.

That cover is easier said than done    And I was hoping I wouldn't have to disturb the gear towers.

I just milled a Athearn SW1500, and the towers had tabs that needed to be squeezed in and the truck drops out.

I am in the process of converting a HO S2/4 to a On30 Mount Blue Center Cab.  To do this I need to mill off the cab weight at one end.  I have dissembled the chassis down to the trucks and metal frame, but I cannot figure out how to drop the trucks.  The exploded diagrams don't show an easy way either.

Thoughts?

Now that the O scale Peter Witt is out, when can we expect ours?    Also was there any thoughts on a previous thread about simple modifications to the venerable Big Hauler passenger cars to function as interurbans? i.e. Single end molding for a front/rear, end caps for the roof to cover the end moldings, and a simple universal side frame for a block based on the current truck with representations of a few truck type, a Brill-like, Standard-like and Baldwin-like side frames.  With these simple modifications, a host of trolley/interurbans could be build, freight motor (full baggage), combine (same), full passenger (coach), Parlor (Observation).  Kitbashers could splice the cars together for longer cars, different window combinations etc.  Maybe an insert with an arched window instead of the square sashes.  You could also sell the parts to retrofit existing cars: new floor, ends, and roof; powered or unpowered truck sets...

I would make a generic interurban based on the normal passenger cars.  Make one roof, and one end, use the bodies as is.  You would have a parlor car (Observation), Combine, Coach, and Freight.  Use the trolley boards from the street cars, and the poles.  The underfloor stuff could even stay the same.  All that would probably be needed is a power brick to fit under the car floor and side frames.  Make the side frames replace-able to give choices. A Standard, a Baldwin, a Brill, and you pretty much cover it.  Not much to actually design, most of the hard parts are already there.

My vote would be for a scaled up Peter Witt street car, in 1/24th.  Yes the trucks are narrow, but the design work is already done for the HO car and it should take some the cost of development sting out of producing it.

On the same vein, what about scaling up the open excursion cars to two truck open trolley cars?

Just lobbying for the traction side of the house...

I took the block off the cars with sliders last night and they had no soldered connections to the block only the spring contacts.  Does this make them old sliders or new sliders? 

Yes, and no.  I am curious to the relative age of the cars that I have, and relate that to how well they run.  The cars with the soldered lighting connections seem to have the most problems.  I have not yet tried the cars with the sliders.  They were new the box, but the box was the older style, so I found it interesting that the sliders were only on those and not the others...

I over the last month I have picked up a bunch of Bachmann trolleys and  I had a few to begin with. All the cars I have I have seen I have seen two versions of the open car, light tan and dark brown seats.  And I have seen now three versions of the power brick with both the closed and open cars.  The first that I saw had no soldered connections to the brick and it just screwed in.  The majority of the cars I have have the brick soldered to the body for lights etc.  The latest version I have purchased has sliders, and in fact the two new bricks have two different versions of sliders, smooth and with two dimples.

My question is is there a time line to their manufacturer?

Even at 1:22.5 I would be happy.  It would match the LGB Streetcar and not be too far off the 1:24 stuff.  Alot of large scale trolley stuff is built from Bachmann passenger cars already...  Why not just make it the same scale as the current open and closed cars?
