Quote from: GordonPacific04 on August 12, 2025, 07:31:45 PMSo a couple things confirmed about Flying Scotsman in today's Thomas Tuesday stream.

- Will be Reusing Gordon's chassis
- Body and tenders will be new toolings
- Matt said he would ideally like to have the standard hook and loop couplers between the tenders, but will ultimately come down to what's most cost effective.
- Will look like how he did in CGI, so the tenders will have 6 wheels

In my opinion, don't care too much about having 6 wheels on the tenders, though I do hope we'll have the standard hook and loop couplers between the tenders. I'm a bit bummed that he'll be using Gordon's chassis, as the siderods are too thick and it's a bit underscale. I would have preferred he use Spencer's chassis because it counters all of those points, but maybe the giant eye mech had something to do with it. It is what it is though.
Seeing Scotsman in the 2026 catalog made me want to stir the pot with this thread again.

Pretty much agree with everything I said here back in August. Not sure how far along production is, but I do want to strongly advocate for Scotsman using Spencer's Chassis and not Gordon's, as proportionally it's better and the chunky side rods are a bit of an eyesore.

Per the last few thomas tuesday's apparently he's entering the first sample phase now and should be ready within the next few months. Probably too late to change anything with the chassis but maybe can swing some of the paint cosmetics

Just checked the catalog.

Discontinuations this round seem to be Raspberry syrup tanker, the sodor coal co. wagon, G scale tar tanker, slate truck #178, and the old peco open wagon (no real surprise.)

Interestingly, Knapford isn't in the catalog. I hope this is an oversight and it wasn't cancelled.

I'm in a weird spot with the announcements especially in HO.

The FQC trucks are cool to see, but knowing wagon yard has already made them and in two colors I feel less excited for it than I should probably be. If it was a more unique color like the goldish yellow from the books I might be more on board, although if this does well maybe that'll come later. (and who knows, if it gets into N it could boost Mavis's chances as well.)

The brakevan is neat, but a little weird it is just RWS spiteful, number and all. It's still neat but I almost would have rather a more generic one to army build better.

I don't really have any thoughts on CGI fuel wagon, it makes sense especially with the new chassis but I don't particularly love this design.

The diesel fuel wagon annoys me, as the stamps aren't made to fully wrap the text so there is some letter cutoff, and the barrels are inaccurate. Expected but not particularly thrilled with that unfortunately. Hope that can be tweaked between sample and final.

The painted express coaches look amazing, and the additional wagon recolors are nice to see. Although a tiny nitpick is the van being in the middle of the sequence of open wagons, not sure why these are segmented like that, maybe the van wasn't the original plan? The two engines look nice, hoping for updates on the new molds soon

G scale getting love is nice, 2 new wagons and a reintroduction is really appreciated. Although the tanker is labelled as Tidmouth, wonder what design we'll get in the final.

Blue Talyllyn very happy about, rode behind her and she's a beautiful loco, will be picking up for sure. Matt alluded to potentially doing Hayden's current livery on stream as well and that is something I'd love to see. The gunpowder wagons are really neat as well.

Overall, I'm not disappointed but some of these announcements aren't as cool as they probably are for other people. Although it makes sense to keep things light while they continue to catch up, look forward to the next announcements.

I've seen this line of logic come up a few times and I wanted to offer a potential alternative. As Douglas wasn't in pieces until a good few months after the Bachmann cancellation (plus I'm sure they likely already have measurements)

Duncan was cancelled after Sir Handel's sample was revealed, which we know now is almost entirely Sir Hayden with a new coat of paint. I think the reality is, Bachmann doesn't want to make Duncan just Douglas and that is why it was cancelled for the reasons stated of lack of cross compatibility. His tvs design is too different compared to the real engine and there's no easy way to swing it. Will they revisit this, perhaps. But I don't think it'd be anytime until the other 3 cgi narrow gauge engines are done. Plus with the 2026 project on the horizon there may be even more to pull from with Rheneas seemingly already confirmed and the fact Motorized Nia explicitly comes with a BMQ mine truck. I think Duncan is off the radar for some time.

Also agree with Chaz, I imagine Edward or Duck will be next. I hope they'd prioritize Edward but it is an interesting point that Duck is way more marketed at this current point. I'm sure Edward will also be in the new show but it is interesting

Also noting Matt specifically alluded to having an engine on hand for N scale comparisons they didn't want to show off until the febuary stream, so we'll probably see one of the outstanding N scale engines next month

Hey everyone,

So far it's just been a few eBay shops but DCC Thomas, DCC Percy, the anniversary vans, and the narrow gauge gondolas have now all begun their release. Glad Bachmann were able to get another large project drop out before the end of the year.

Believe only things we have samples for fully painted not released yet are the cgi milk tanker, updated tar tanker (funnily finally got myself my hands on an original this week), the open carriage, and the G scale set, unless that's released and I've completely missed it.

Quote from: Zorran202 on December 03, 2025, 01:41:50 PMANYWAYS before we end up derailing from the topic here: I could be living under a rock, but if Sir Handel is now released, where could I find him in person instead of online? Like is he distributed throughout the physical model hobby shops too?

I'm unsure about any shops directly but I know he was at the Greenberg train show, so any U.S. Local shop very well me be getting him in shortly. U.K should be getting him similarly within a week or two.

Hope this is helpful

It's nice to see Sir Handel out now, he looks stunning one of the all time greats.

Although given the 2026 initial release window he had I am a little surprised.

The only other products with a 2025 release window were the anniversary vans and they are currently nowhere to be seen, I wonder what's going on there.

Addendum: On this weeks new model Monday confirmed there was a delayed container shipment and they should be arriving within the next few weeks.

Quote from: Zorran202 on September 06, 2025, 05:06:09 PMI'm honestly surprised they hadn't released the BR Brake Van by this point, like for the other range scales had been 3-4 years after their range's debut year (HO 3 years after it launched & Large Scale 4 years after it launched)... I'm honestly not sure why they opted to do the LMS version instead of what's been in the other ranges after all these years. Heck, they can do a double whammy and do a generic version (maybe like the 12 Ton Van from the HO Range, release 4 total versions) plus a Spiteful Break Van version....!

I imagine it was as simple as they though reusing the graham farish tooling would be easier than creating a new tooling or downscaling the HO one. Gives fans what they want (a normal brakevan) while also being a relatively low stakes project while they worked on 3 new engines and the express coaches. However, once they realized that wouldn't be the case they cancelled the LMS one. If it's going to be a difficult project either way no real sense to pursue it at the moment

Agreed with Chaz. The BR Brakevan is simply iconic. I imagine they'll lead with Spiteful Brakevan just due to sales but there's no real reason they can't go all out and do more down the road.

In a similar vein if they revisit doing a new tool of the LMS one like they alluded to potentially doing they'll lead with Bradford as it's the actual character. Shame to see this one be cancelled by to be honest it's already an existing product anyway. If people want one they can still get the base tooling, so it's not as much of a loss as other potential cancellations

I'd personally like to see it, it's enough of a major revision like Red Rosie to warrant being a separate product for those who prefer her having a number. But Chaz is right in it not being a really requested product. It is a good thing for Bachmann to consider in their back pocket for years where they may need something simple while they catch up on bigger products, but it does not appear 2026 will be that kind of year really so I wouldn't expect it so soon. In a similar vein it'd be nice to get an updated Henrietta with her face, as an update or separate product. It's probably my most wanted rolling stock at this point as it feels like the biggest thing missing.

As of a few hours ago Mainland Diesel, Sidney, the anniversary vans, troublesome truck #7, and N scale Henry have gone up for preorder on Trainworld. I want to say they all already had pricing info on Bachmann's webstore so I imagine some of the other things that went up on here recently (mainly N scale stuff now) will go up for preorder shortly. My hope is that all this pricing already being finalized means we'll have a pretty quick turnaround for a lot of them to drop in Q2 and Q3 next year. Maybe that's a bit optimistic but that'd be nice.

Quote from: Awesometrain77 on August 19, 2025, 10:46:32 PMSo it seems like
Sir Handel could be fall 2025
DCC items , NG gondolas, and 80th vans winter 2025
And then like knapford , salty ,n scale express coaches , and the gunpowder vans in spring 2026

A few things here. Matt said the next items that would be on the horizon after Sir Handel are the gondolas and Knapford. With that in mind I don't think we can say with confidence anything else will be released in Winter if even those he says they're shooting for next may be pushed back to 2026.

I also wouldn't expect to see Salty that soon. Per pretty recent they're still hard at work on him and even once they get the issue fixed, they still have to wait on box samples. Fall 2026 for him is more realistic I'd think. The open carriage has also had an unpainted sample longer than the gunpowder wagons and soon to be the express coaches though, so I'd expect to see that in Spring. the aforementioned two I'd also admittedly expect to be a bit later than Spring but if they can get it sped along even faster that'd be good to see

Didn't get a chance to read it earlier Chaz but I must say in agreement with almost everything you proposed. The engine picks are all sound, and so are the rolling stock. In agreement with some of the other shouts people have made regarding additions to the list like the museum coaches.

The only thing I disagree with is the normal brakevan. I'm just unsure Bachmann would lead with another faceless one out of the gate after the LMS one, especially considering neither the HO or G ones are on the market. Makes more sense to me from a business perspective that they would lead with Spiteful. But a normal BR one would be welcome, and I think voicing that interest now is definitely the right call. One in which I support.

Tidmouth sheds is also an interesting case. I know they've said the roundhouse would differ in some ways from tidmouth, but have never shot down reusing it. Has there been any product updates on said roundhouse now that I think about it? Feels like we haven't heard anything since 2024's NMRA. Don't necessarily disagree with the possibility just unsure of if I'd be fully confident in it until we see it.

I want to add one more potential character I think would happen either alongside Cranky or soon after. Bertie makes sense to me to happen to test how non-rail vehicles do in the line. I know you mention Cranky filling that role, but Cranky is kind of a different beast entirely. So it makes sense to me they'd either do both together or one soon after the other to get a wider test. Bertie serving as a test for smaller vehicles, while Cranky serves more as a test for additional accessories and buildings.

Let me know what you all think
