Quote from: RailsByRick on January 25, 2026, 04:15:27 PMVery disappointed to hear that Knapford has been cancelled. It's becoming a very bad habit of Bachmann's to announce a highly anticipated item only to cancel it a few months later.

Bachmann, please stop announcing new items unless you are 100% certain they'll be arriving to market. It is very tiring to constantly get our hopes up and then get let down shortly after. You are damaging your customers' faith.

Indeed.

I was about to post something similar - I am ok with a quiet year of announcements to allow the backlog to clear; I don't want another Duncan situation whereby everyone gets excited just for it to be cancelled due to technical issues. Do the R&D, make sure a product is feasible, commit to manufacture, then announce it. I would rather wait 6 months for something that is certainly going to happen, than 2 years for a nope!

Yep... the blue and red carriages looked too awesome to resist, so Ive caved in and moved into Narrow Gauge!! Hoping Peter Sam will put in an appearance in time for Xmas.

So what I would like to get announced this year is:

1 loco (Sir Handel/Duncan - dont mind which as long as the other is announced in the next wave)
3 rolling stock (D Fusit Wagon, Brake Vans in two colours; I can wait another year for green carriages)

About a year ago, I made an oval of track (about 6x4 foot) and timed how fast my locos would go around it at full speed. Here are the results (average 5 runs):

Duck 8.3s
Henry 8.4s
Thomas 8.4s
Gordon 8.5s
James 8.5s
Percy 9.8s
Edward 10.2s
Toby 14.0s

So yeah, Toby is slow.... ****ing slow! But thats his character and why he is the first loco I bought along with Henrietta!

N Scale

It would be awesome if Bachmann continued the inital announcement trend of 2 loco and 4 pieces of rolling stock. So for 2020:

James
Edward

Red Express Composite Coach
Red Express Brake Coach
A Tanker (Milk, Sodor Fuel or Tar)
Normal Brakevan

In futures years ideally 1 tender/long engine and 1 small engine along with 2 coaches and 2 goods wagons. For example:

Gordon/Duck, Green Express Composite Coach/Green Express Brake Coach/Tar Tanker/Troublesome van
Henry/Oliver, Red Branchline Coach/Red Branchline Brake Coach/Toad/Sodor Fuel Tanker
Daisy/Toby, Henrietta/Sodor Mail Coach/SC Ruffey/Troublesome Tanker

Of course I would not object to more being made each year  ;D

If Bachmann go into N scale, and they were easily available in the UK, then I would buy the lot and sell my HO collection in a heartbeat!
