I would only run club equipment, not personal treasures that cannot be replaced, in a public display.  and Barriers are a must IMHO weather it is n scale or g scale. you need to eliminate any possibility of folks being shocked from track voltage.

As Stan runs DCC on the track, i suggested to him that he had had a short thru the springs, causing the lack of temper.

Doc,
here is the info from my spare motor/gearbox. if the gearbox is included, you probably do not get the worm gear and certainly not the flywheel. also be sure they are not just talking about the gear on the axle.

Motor and gearbox were sold separately, the cover was another separate item. I purchased these bits back when they were avalible. if it isn't in the picture you do not get.

This batch is now shipping, if you reserved and have not heard from me ,please check your spam folder.

I can continue to take reservations, however i can no longer hold the current price, and a new price will be quoted to those reserved when the 12 reservations are in hand. the material cost for the raw frames went up over a $1.00 in this last batch, and that ended up being more that 12 frames (quantity discounts from the laser cutter)

This batch is now fully reserved. Future options may be that the end user purchases there own hardware and bearings. If a manufacture is interested in making this part of there product line they may contact me.

As of today most of the second and final batch of these K-27 pilot truck upgrades are reserved, and only a couple remain available, so it is time to check your engines folks.

Initial uptake has been slow, however i am now working on shipping the first ten kits. I have  parts for another two on hand, and some parts for 13 more, but that will probably be the end.

Is the front pilot truck on your k-27 broken?  I had no idea mine was until I took a closer look after a friend alerted me to the problem earlier this year. You cannot view this attachment.
He sent me a potential solution to 3d print, designed by Dylan Huston.
You cannot view this attachment.
The one issue I had with the design was the use of an active bistle post, which required a new hole to be machined in the deck plate. Dylan is a skilled machinist, but most folks would have trouble machining this hole. I also noted that the existing brass pin with the spring behind it was digging into the bottom of the pilot deck surface.
You cannot view this attachment.
This new design solves several problems. It uses a 1/8 thick piece of brass as the base of the truck. It utilizes ball bearings to fit on the existing axel with a little polishing. The remainder is 3d printed parts in Formlabs Tough 2000 resin that I have found to be impervious to breakage. The bump stop on the top is designed to slide easer on the bottom of the deck plate. So it is very durable, and with the low slung brass frame tracks much better. I cannot guarantee you will be derailment free, but your new front truck is reasonably indestructible.
I currently have the first batch of these in service with several owners.
For a limited time (depending on demand) I am offering a kit for this new pilot truck for $30.00 plus $10.00 priority mail shipping. I can fit up to three kits in a small flat rate box, if you need more than one.
At this time I am looking for reservations. I need to purchase the brass frames in min lots of 12 pieces to make this price work, and I am not making a lot of $$ here either, more so looking to keep these locomotives going for years  to come.

Please send me a PM on this forum to make a reservation. Please include your shipping address and contact email, so when ready I can send you the info for a PayPal payment, or contact info if you wish to send a check.

Greg,

based on prototype dims it looks like the wheel base should be about 3-7/8 between centers and about 1-3/8 wheel Dia.  I wanted to check to see if this would work in another scale, but do not know how close they followed there 1/29th scale.
