General Discussion / track bed under ez track
November 04, 2025, 12:44:19 AM
Hello,
I am building a layout using woodland scenics riser system and plaster cloth.  Can I use track bed under the ez track to decrease potential noise?  Please advise.

I think it was because I was connecting a right turnout to another right turnout, at the point where the frogs faced each other and that created a polarity issue??  I guess, still learning and I got a long way to go... 8)

General Discussion / DCC controller on the blink
October 16, 2025, 07:03:21 PM
Ok, I just built a simple 4x8 layout for my grandson using some old steel alloy curves, a remote turnout, and a steel alloy terminal re-railer mixed in with nickel alloy tracks, however, when I connect the power my Bachmann dcc controller blinks fast as if there were a derailment.  Sound like something is tripping the controller but I cannot locate the issue. could it be a turnout?  there is nothing metal (that i can see).  any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you both.  Len, the links above are directly to the "site" that provided the layout.

General Discussion / Layout clarification

Can anyone help with EZ track part# or part descriptions for this layout?  I found it on Pinterest while looking for layout ideas using Bachmann EZ track as the main search criteria.

I actually found the original layout which is in Atlas track.  I guess a simple conversion will do the trick?

Is it safe to run a dc or dcc locomotive on same track in opposite directions?  I mean by simply placing the locomotive on the track in the opposite direction.  Please advise

General Discussion / Trouble with brand new dcc turnouts
February 18, 2025, 05:12:15 PM
Some of my newly purchased dcc turnouts keep derailing my diesel engines.  track is level, I did feel a "ruff spot" (like if you did not connect two tracks together correctly) I saw a few notices online regarding "filing down" a part of the turnout but am not sure if that is a wise thing to do.  Anyone else run into this issue with brand new dcc turnouts and how you were able to repair it?  Please advise

Thanks for the replies, sorry it took me a while to respond.  I started doing some trouble shooting and testing each turnout individually directly to the ac power source i found that one of the "green extension cords" had a short in it.  Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate it!!

Help...  new to model trains.  I have an 4x8 layout that I got from this sight, everything is working except one remote turnout.  The remote turnout works, but I have no power going to connecting tracks.  Any thoughts about what the issue is and how to fix it? please advise.

Hello everyone,

I am 63 years young and am returning to a favorite childhood hobby, model trains. Can I use a separate older model Bachmann dc controller to power my turnouts on a dcc run track?  please advise
