HO / Locomotive stopping on track
November 06, 2025, 11:14:59 AM
When running my Walthers DCC EMD F7 A-B consist (both powered) on Bachmann NS EZ track with the Bachmann DC #44217 controller, at low speed, the pair always stops at a certain point in the 22" curve. At higher speeds it proceeds through with no issues. If I run the A unit only, this doesn't occur either.  Both locos are fairly heavy and produce basic engine and braking sound effects. My other locomotives don't do this so it's not a track problem. Could this be an issue with the DCC locomotive pairing vs. the DC controller? Thank you for any and all replies.

Thank you for the above replies. I have a basic 4 X 8 oval layout. If I still have some Steel Alloy track pieces in place along with the NS, will that denigrate the overall increase in conductivity expected with the upgrade?

Should I replace all of the track in my layout for the conversion? Would replacing just some of the track give me the enhanced conductivity the Nickel Silver provides? Thank you for any responses.

Are there any advantages to the Nickel Silver over the Steel Alloy track ( with the black roadbed)?

General Discussion / Locomotive Lubrication
August 22, 2025, 09:17:53 AM
Hello. I ordered EZ Lube Conductive Oil to service my Bachmann locomotives. What areas of the locomotive do I need to lubricate for routine maintenance? Does this product differ from the Bachmann Light Oil?  Thank you for any and all replies.

HO / No Power at the Wye
April 18, 2025, 12:32:38 PM
I have a Bachmann #5 Wye installed on a dead-end yard track. When I run  locomotives on that track they stop running at the wye, when moving downstream from the main track; obviously no rail current from that point on. The wheels are not derailed. Has anyone had a similar issue?  Thanks for any replies.

Thanks to Len for the advice. Can you describe what wire to the motor would need to be disconnected?

HO / Converting to a dummy
March 25, 2025, 10:18:44 AM
Hello. I purchased a new HO scale GP-38 from Bachmann and would like to convert it to a dummy to serve as an MU in my consist. What is the easiest (and maybe reversible) way to do this? Possibly removing the gears from the drive wheels or removing the drive shaft? Thanks for any replies.
