Thanks to both of you for the valuable information, it is greatly appreciated.
You are correct in saying I have the grain-o-wheat bulb in the headlamp of my older unit, and unfortunately I do not possess the skills or tools needed to add a new connector or solder directly onto the new board. I was curious, however, whether I could splice the the red and black wires from my old headlamp/smoke unit to the red and black wires leading to the "track" connector on my new chassis? I don't know what the maximum voltage my grain-o-wheat headlamp can manage, so would resistors be required?  If so this would be an easy fix with the understanding I would end up with variable light intensity. Your thoughts on this approach?

I have a Bachmann model 90094 which needs a chassis replacement. Loco Bill was kind enough to help me find a replacement on Bachmann's website, but unfortunately the new chassis is plug and play whereas my original engine is completely hard wired.
