Maybe Check the gearbox, After not running for a while those gears could crack. Also try cleaning the wheels they could oxidize

I always put on two sets of traction tires when my steam locomotives can't pull up my layout's phantom grades. Works pretty good
One catch is your wheels can look pretty bulky after putting two traction tires on each. So it costs some realism

My compliments to your layout Ken, very detailed. Anybody know how to fix bad quartering and some cracked gears on an 80s old N&W J class 611?
