I have a brand new 4-4-0 Olive Green & Russia Iron but have just acquired an Lake & Russia Iron non-functional loco.  I like the body on the Lake & Russia Iron better so I want to swap them so the new chassis is
in the older body.

Your procedure is how I typically do these things but I got myself in trouble on an Annie that I took apart and had one heck of a time getting it back together again.

I am trying to replace the body on my Spectrum 4-4-0 and cannot make heads or tails of the Bachman exploded view in terms of what happens first, etc.  Does anyone have detailed instructions or better yet, a YouTube video of disassembling the 4-4-0?  I am fearful that if I can get it apart I won't be able to get it back together without lots of extra pieces left over.

I really appreciate your information.  I hadn't planned to spend so much money on this thing that is suspended through our store but, you know how that goes!  Dallee Electronics makes a board that works in a similar fashion which I have decided to try.  It is over $150 cheaper and looks to be pretty easy to install.  I will let you all know how this goes.

Boy you guys really have me confused.  I am a neophyte in the g-scale train hobby having been introduced to it about 6 - 8 months ago.   I own an ACE Hardware store located in an old railroad station complex that has become a shopping center.  I have a G Scale system suspended throughout the store and I run a Spectrum 4-4-0 wood burner.  It really needs sound and I am at a loss as to what to do.  It is very simple analog DC track power but it is also 10' in the air.  I have the controls on a timer that allows it to run a complete circuit so that it does not run all day and annoy the employees.  Every kid that comes into the store knows exactly where the "secret" button is.  I also have an Aristo Craft U25B that has sound.  It has a rechargeable battery and when the power times out, the sound remains on long enough to go through a powerdown sequence just like the real thing.  Very cool and catches everyone's attention.  I am very proud of my Spectrum 4-4-0 for it is a work of art but no sound? . I need something, anything that is self sustaining (like no ladder needed) to give it some sound.  I am reading this thread and cannot make heads or tails of any of it.  Does anyone make something for this application?

Just curious, about how long does it take to repair an Annie once it is received?  I know there are a lot of variables (how many in line, problem, etc.) Just trying to get a feel for it in terms of days, weeks or months.

It does help.  I am trying to decide between a Spectrum and a Big Hauler flat car.  I dont need the detail of the Spectrum since it will be up in the air.  I think the Spectrum is slightly longer but well within the range I need.

I am new to the hobby and have a retail hardware store.  I am in the midst of suspending a G Scale train from the ceiling of our store.  I have a 1:25 scale tractor trailer that I would like to put the trailer on a flat car.  It measures 14.5 inches long and 4.5 inches wide.  I cannot find the dimensions of a flat car platform anywhere and don't want to buy one just to find that it is too small.  Most of my current collection of cars are Bachmann.  Does anyone know the actual size if the Bachmann flatcar platform?
