HO / Re: Change polarity on Bachmann F7
April 26, 2013, 02:35:00 AM
I was thinking that you were aligning an additional DC loco to you DCC system, I have done the track polarity change myself.    I have a DCC  loco that is cab forward on dcc but reverse on DC. and it is staying that way,On our exhibition layout,I set it up with another loco, each with 3 or 4 passenger cars.,at a station ,back to back on the same line and set them going, the system is DC and they can pass on a loop.First one back has to go onto a 2nd platform, or it's a Head-on,!All good stuff. Hello there, Swapping the wires over on the motor brushes should do the trick.Unless it's a split chassis type frame. I have just modified a SD40 ready to fit a dcc chip,That was fun! Cheers KS.

A small trick I have done with knuckle couplers when long wheelbase units rise and fall on undulating track, making them lift out in awkward places, is to glue sequins(dress makers bling) on the decouple bar about 3/4 of coupling thickness, down from the knuckle. This stops them lifting out,can be a bit fidily to manually remove a car out of a consist though! :)

On checking online catalogues,I find that the cat.44212 power controller is shown as dcc compatible with extra knobs? with picture on one site ,and on another it is the dc only unit with a different picture, neither show the extra unit to unit cord? ???

Thanks chaps, yes, I have the companion as well,( I have a booster, not yet connected) The video shows what I'm wanting to do,But if you call up the cat.44212. it talks  about connecting but doesn't show the jumper cable in the picture. I am thinking about getting another companion as well, I have 3 operational areas ,albeit the whole system is in a 8'6 square shed ,around the wall bench style. I run USA, Alaskan,  British,,Plus Hornby Live Steam, and New Zealand (1/64 scale)..By using a multipin plug power to track system, I change supplies and segregate sidings in one move,(loco parkups etc) Thanks from downunder K.S.

General Discussion / dcc control system connections
March 26, 2013, 05:06:33 AM
I have an  Ezy command and a companion set up and working,I have found out by watching the instruction videos how  the companion stop works ( thought it didn't) My question is -Which DC control unit is used in conjunction with my set up? there seems to be several types (cat.no's) ,and is there a plug I can insert into the command unit to change F10 to DCC ?  K.S.
