Hey, does anyone know how ling the new 2-6-6-2 is. Including the tender.

I'd be more than interested in a Rotary myself! And please let it be a steam one!  And I'm all for a Heisler as well!

And I like the idea of smaller locomotives too, I would like to see an On30 version of the Large Scale 0-4-0 Saddle tanker Bachmann made a few years back. And like I had said above, an Old Time outside Frame 2-4-0. (still need to hunt down that drawing.    )

Now I want to throw this suggestion out there just for the heck of it and I hope some of you take interest. The prototype was a 3ft gauge 2-8-0, outside framed, and it ran on the White Pass & Yukon Route RR. I know Bachmann already has an outside frame 2-8-0 but the engine I speak of is an earlier built locomotive. I've noticed with a lot of Bachmann's new motive power a set of optional parts is included and quite often a Capped Stack it with it.



I think that this locomotive would fit in well with Bachmann's On30 Steam Fleet. It has a little bit of class and has a fairly generic look to it. Another reason for my suggestion of this locomotive it that fact that it uses the Vouclain Compound Cylinders. A unique feature that I find attractive. Now if Bachmann were to produce this locomotive in On30 I'd would want to see optional parts so the individual can customize the engine as they see fit, and even offer a version of the loco that uses traditional single expansion.

Well, I have been fascinated by the Winans Camel since Childhood. And yes, I'm more than aware of the fact that they were NOT narrow gauge.

I am a freelance modeler and even my future On30 layout is fictional. Albeit I've taken inspiration mostly from Colorado Narrow Gauge. And I'm a sucker for odd and unique locomotives. Another reason why I want to make an On30 Winan's style Camel is also because they had a terrific service record, the last Camel being retired sometime in the late 1890's. So why not have a small Railroad Co. take interest in the design and build their own version.

Look at it this way, the Oahu Railway & Land Co was so impressed of the D&RGW's K-28 class that they custom order a number to use on their own railway, the only major differences was that the K-28's ordered by the Oahu Railway didn't have the smoke box mounted dual air compressor comonly seen on the D&RGW. Other than that and their paint scheme they were virtual carbon copies.

The only difference between the Hawaiian K-28s and my 30in gauge Camel is that my engine, if this actually happened, is that my Camel would have been home built in stead of ordered/commissioned by a builder. Plus I'd like to test how good my kitbashing skills are.

From my experience if you buy the 10th Anniversary locomotive then yes, they all have metal side rods. But if you get an Bachmann "Annie" from one of their "Big Haulers" set its more likely to have plastic side rods.

I wouldn't mind seeing a On30 2-4-0, something with some Old Time charm to it with Fluted Domes, Box Headlamp, Wood Cab and Pilot, and a baloon or Radley Hunter style stack. I've got a drawing I made of it, I'll have to track it down and post it later.

Ok, that does help a good bit. But do you know what the Drive Wheel diamiters are?

Yes, I've got an On30 locomotive project that has become very frustrating. Its still literally on the drawing board.

Its a "Winan's" style 0-8-0 camelback for On30. I had originaly wanted to use an old MDC Roundhouse "Modern" 2-8-0 kit I have but the drivers are too small, astheticaly, and they dont't have that "old time" narrow gauge look either. But I have noticed that the drivers from the Bachmann 2-6-0 have the right diamiter, visualy, and the "look" I want. But that would require building my own frame which I don't have the skill to build.

My most recent thought was using the BLI (Brodway Limited Imports) On30 C-16 chassis. But I don't know who long the wheel base is and what the diamiter of the drivers are. If anyone can help me I'd be very much obliged!

Well, if you don't mind spending a few more dollars ($10 to be more precise) you can get a three stall round house from the company as listed in the previous message.

I myself have been looking for a two stall stone engine shed but have found none that I like. Thus I have desided to scratch build my own using plaster.
