Sheldon, if someone tole me that you invented a locomotive that ran on propane, and now you're producing your
own fuel in the basement, I'd be inclined to believe them.  Especially after a few beers !

That is one incredible model !

Back here with another quick update on my last photo input.  I added a bit of highlights to the previous
monotonic backdrop.  All I did was to sprinkle some lighter ground foam to the existing 'dark' background.

Notice the difference betweeb the second and third pic.  You can definitely see by the angle the 'depth' of the backdrop.

The fourth pic is of my scratch-build coaling tower.  The coal chute is also scratch-built and I believe, a bit overscale.
I may replace it with a Tichy Train Group production product.  The coal hoist bucket and rails (unseen on the back) are
also a Tichy Train Product.

Thanks Sheldon.  I believe I got duplicate pictures up there so I'm going to have delete one.

Thanks Russ.  I'm back again with another update.

I got tired of getting the camera 'below the horizon' so as to not show the sky-blue below the green hills.
I built a one-layer thick back-drop using good old cardboard.  Here's a few pics of what I'm talking about.

edit:  Picture deleted because of being a duplicate.

I don't know what area I'll be working next or when,  Hopefully sooner than last time.

Yes I do.  As a matter of fact I bought a few more of various sizes.

As you can see, by placing them at different heights, it forces a 'forced perspective' of depth.  May have to paint them
sometime in the future.

Well, here I am again with another update.  More scenery on one of the mining districts.

Don't know what I'll be doing next but, more to follow.

Really like that fence, Sheldon.   Nice weathering too.

Hi Sheldon, I really like that 'main office'.
I think I'd enjoy working there.

Here's the latest on the 'farm'.

First I added an apron made of plastic food wrap all around the module.

Here it is installed on the layout.  I added a lot of 'back-fill' and the 'apron' prevented it
from sticking to the layout and also allowed it to 'fit' more snuggley.

This is the little bridge I installed on the back side of the 'farm'.  The plastic wrap is
removed and you can see how well the bridge fits.

The following are more photos of the finished project.

Now I can lift out the entire 'farm' diorama to get access to the scenery still
to be permantly behind the mining operation.

One final shot...

Whoohoo ! ! !  Sheldon, you just passed over 100,000 views !  Did you
get the members name ?  Did they win anything ?

I really like the way you've been 'filling' in empty spaces.
Keep it up.

Finally finished (for now) landscaping.  Here's a few pics:

My next project will be to do a better job at hiding the 'seams' of the farm.
The plan is to keep it as a removable 'lift out' section for access.  I'll try
to remember to take some 'in progress' photos.

Sheldon, that really looks nice.  Too bad you couldn't remove those mirror frames somehow.
If they're 'surface' reflecting mirrors, you could make a 'half' shed to butt up against them.
That it would at least hide the lower part of them.

Those little shrub thingies you've been making are superb.  What kind of adhesive are you using
to attach the 'greenery' to the branches ?

I started to 'rough in' the road leading into the farm area;

The next half dozen or so pics are after I applied 'plaster paper', giving me
a consistent surface to apply ground cover.

Ground cover comes next,

Well, I finally got something done !  I started to 'fill in' around the farm.

Here's a distant shot.

This is the new tunnel portal location:

Next came plaster cloth and just plain plaster.

Then it was given a heavy 'wash' with a dirt colored water color.

Next was ground cover.

...and finally ballast.
