I have the above Bachman engines but I would like to replace the 2 function decoders with TCS decoders. Can anyone tell me what decoders these engines would take?

General Discussion / Re: pickle cars
December 19, 2010, 08:09:14 PM

Further research showed that they were produced from 1985 to 1990 & the vat car was actually a vinegar car. I know that they are to be re released by another large company but that will not be until late March (if you can believe their release date) and they are a solid color not 2 colors like the Bachmann vinegar cars were. I picked up one at the Tampa Train Show today and didn`t realize I had found a gem in the rough until I got home and tried to find another to go with it and the built up pickle factory I also bought. My car had metal wheels and a set of whisker #148 couplers in the sealed bag. All for $9.00.

General Discussion / pickle cars

Did Bachmann ever produce a pickle car with the 4 vats and if so would they still be available to buy? I know that they produced a covered pickle car with a low profile. Kinda like a covered gondola, but I can`t find these either from an internet source. Please don`t tell me eBay. I would use them as a definite last resort.

HO / silver series freight cars

What is your opinion of the  Bachman silver series freight cars? Price wise they seem to be the most reasonable with only Model Power cheaper. I had been using Atlas Trainman but discovered that Bachman produces more of my era cars and between Peach Creek Hobbies, Trainworld and MB Klein I can get almost any car Bachman makes & at a hefty discount.

I bought several Bachman Silver Series freight cars at a train show recently and when I opened the boxes I noticed that the seller had done a switcheroo substituting plastic wheels for the metal ones that come with this series and also the trucks were badly deformed as if someone tried to "alter" them. What I would like to know is what is a reasonable replacement set for this series. I am talking about 2 & 4 bay hopper cars.
