HO / Bachmann GP35 problems
June 05, 2023, 01:17:51 PM
I have an older Bachmann GP35, DCC on Board, with the vertically split frame.  The loco goes about 5 or 6 feet, then stops for a couple seconds.  When it stops, the headlight goes out.  Then the loco starts up again and a couple seconds later the headlight comes back on.  This happens often going around the layout. I've reprogrammed a couple times but doesn't seem to make any difference.  Question is, is this a mechanical problem or electrical?  Maybe bad connection or bad decoder?

HO / Bachmann B23-7 and FT

Two questions for you guys out there.  Is there another Bachmann loco with window glazing that will fit in a B23-7, or, Mr. Bach Man, are those parts till available?  Again with the window glazing, does the glazing for the Bachmann F7 fit the Bachmann FTs, and are they still available somewhere?  Thanks ahead for the comebacks.

Thanks.  I'll give that a try if I can't find the GP40 rails.  Appreciate the come-back.

HO / Bachmann GP40

I am repainting a Bachmann GP40 in L&N colors.  I got the shell with no hand rails and Bachmann shows them out of stock.  Is there another Bachmann loco that uses the same hand rails as the GP40?  Thanks.

Thanks for the info on the traction tires.  The 5mm are too small, this is a new locomotive.  The 6mm tires are always sold out.  I guess lots of folks are having traction tire problems.  Maybe I could just send the loco back to Bachmann and have them replaced if I can't get them anywhere else.  Again, thanks for the replies.

Anybody know where I can get replacement traction tires for the Bachmann 262?  They don't list them on the parts page.

Thanks for the replies.  I don't scoot nscale locos on the track either.  The traction tire came off while the loco was running for only the second time on the tract.  The tires are very thin and I have yet to find a replacement.  I guess Bullfrog snot is my next alternative.

Anybody else having problems with the traction tires on the 2-6-0 or any of the other Bachmann steamers?  I ran mine around the club layout a couple times and one of the tires came off.  Are there tires available and are they as hard to put on as they look?  thanks.

HO / Digitrax SDH164D
January 20, 2014, 12:00:06 PM
Has anyone out there installed a Digitrax SDH164D in a Bachmann DCC-ready loco?  Even after reading the manual for the decoder, I'm still unsure what to do with the extra wires that come out of the "sound" end of the decoder.  I know how to install a regular DCC decoder, but haven't used this particular decoder before, and am unsure about how to wire up the sound end.  Do I need to use the wires (separate from the speaker and capacitor and the white steam sync wire) that have nothing connected to them?  Remember, this is the sound end of the decoder, not the motion/lights end.  Help.  thanks.

HO / Bachmann DCC ready sound
November 16, 2013, 05:35:10 PM
Anyone out there know of a motion/sound decoder that I can use in a Bachmann FA2 loco that is DCC ready?
The frame has a spot for a speaker.  I don't want to have to pull the board and install a different one just for sound.

Does anyone have or know where I can get (or make) cleaning pads for the old Plasser EM80C track cleaning car and is it worth it to find some?

My original question had to do with the Bachmann 0-6-0.  A member of our club is having trouble with programing this locomotive.  I have programmed many Bachmann locos myself and have had no problem.  It seems to be a problem with whatever decoder this certain loco has installed.  Our Decoder Pro tells us that there is no signal from the loco, therefore it won't program.

Well, if the controller is the problem, then Digitrax won't program them, Easy DCC won't program them and the Decoder Pro won't program them.  There's more to it than just controllers.  Also, why would a rep from Bachmann tell us that the Bachmann decoders won't program, you have to run them on 0003?
