On30 / Re: add smoke to an On30 4-4-0
September 13, 2008, 04:52:35 PM
We always had smokers in loco's in large scale, but I always thought the white "Smoke"  was very wimpy looking & always wondered why no one seemed able to come up with brown or black smoke.

The large scale smokers sure did smell!   I don't think I would want to burn that oil indoors!

to all you folks supporting your LHS, I would love to support my LHS if I only had one!  The nearest town to where I live is Sierra Vista, AZ & they don't have a single hobby shop!   The nearest hobby shops are in Tucson 85 miles away, they are universally in HO, almost no on30.
The nearest narrow gauge shop is Coronado in Phoenix, almost 200 miles away!

Almost everything I buy, RR wise, I have to order on line.  Oh lord do I get tired of paying for shipping!

Cheers,

Rich

On30 / Re: New Forney Broken

Mr. Bachmann,

Thanks, I talked to Bridget & she said the best thing to do would be to put attention Bridget on the box.

The box attention Bridget is on the way!

Thanks again,

Rich

On30 / New Forney Broken
May 15, 2008, 05:14:35 PM
Mr. Bachmann!

My Forney went back to Bachmann for repair, disappeared for 8 weeks!
A replacement arrived today, but unfortunately the left steam chest is broken off & the drive mechanism on that side is seriously bent!
In addition the rear truck is broken off & only held on by the wiring!

Obviously I'm going to have to send it back, will it take another 8 weeks to get another replacement?   Or is there some way to shorten the time up considerably

On30 / Re: On30 couplers

PPowell,

I use Kadee # 148 couplers.  They are much easier to install than the #5's.
My opinion for what it's worth.

I order from Kadee on line.

On30 / Re: Peco On30 Turntable
December 26, 2007, 06:28:15 PM
Does anyone have the web address for Peco?  A web search gave me lots of places that sell peco track, but no listing for Peco itself!

Thanks,

Rich

MRGooch,

Sometimes J hooks were used to hang a rerail frog under the floorboards of the tender, near the side.

On30 / Re: Matching Decals

Wacky,    I don't know of a source for those specific decals, but www.shawmutcarshops.com  Makes custom decals for very reasonable prices.

I have used them for Big Rock & Weed decals when I was in Large scale, & some Little River Logging decals for my undecorated on30 Forney and others.

On30 / Re: E-Z Controllers
July 07, 2007, 10:49:29 AM
Jakuma,

The Bachmann E-Z Controller comes with it's own "brick" style power supply,
the brick plugs into 115, and outputs 16v   1000ma   16va.

I thought Bachmann was going to announce new on30 in May?

Did I miss it?

Didn't happen?

Harold,

I did take a look,  but I'm wondering why you didn't use a rooster instead?

Jonathon,

www.presize.com gets you some other site!    However www.pre-size.com works, it just needs the dash in the URL.

The Bach Man, & EBTBob,

Do either of you have a URL for Pre Size?   I was unable to find them with a Google search.

Thanks,

Rich
